There were capable trainers long before Freddy Roach. Weight classes come and go in terms of overall strength. It's not hard to find welterweights from the past that would be installed at 2 to 1 favorites with the unstoppable Pacroid.

Frasier probably would have beaten Wlad. Wlad is no Foreman.

It would be easy to find 15 nineties era fighters that would be among the best in the division today. these guys would be "real titlist" like David Haye in little or no time. The recent weakness in the heavyweight division is unprecedented and its funny how far off base you are.

He was also one of the most ridiculous athletic talents to grace the game, period. He was also technically quite competent- a master feinter, knockout puncher with good countering and defense, and incredible speed. Good beard too, to boot.

Yeah no doubt! I am just suprised nobody is claiming he would beat Wlad. HELL! I have heard just about every other name excluding his.

And for the record Wlad would have impailed him.

The best fighters I've seen on film were from past era's.

Willie Pep, Fighting Harada, Eder Jofre, Ray Robinson, Ruben Olivares, Tony Canzoneri, Floyd Patterson, etc. The list goes on and on.

Normally I'm defending current fighters against attacks claiming the game is dead. It's not. Even so the general forum at ESB is the only place I have found where there is a consensus overrating of current fighters. There are too many people here that have been fans of this sport for about 18 months and have no respect for their elders.

If fighters of today are that much stronger how many of them do we really think could last 15rds ? Most of today's fighters have pis poor staminia ..The Heavy wastes are all a bunch of slobs with the exception of a selct few that include the Klitchkos !!

For all this technology we have today we sure as hell produce a very bad product !!

There were more fighters at that time so to make it to the top you had to be better than the fighters today simple as that. Even the Golden Gloves had 10-20x more entrants.
In America there was every race color and creed. Hard to ignore the talent that was able to thrive back then. Always give respect to the warriors from back in the day they deserve all of it and more.
