and thats my point i'm talking real defense not moving out the way of punches you can't even hit floyd when he's in the corner on the ropes thats defense
dnt get me wrong pbf is a great fighter best one in the world now but i think hes been matched for qualitys by some other unbeleieable fighters
but thats not having a great defense. That's having a dominant offense. And it caught up with him when his reflexes declined due to old age. His right-hand was way off the mark defending his chin when Tarver busted his face...it's a technical thing. When Floyd slows down, he's going to be much better defended than Roy was. Period. He's one of the best technically sound defenders of this generation.
Lets see Floyd fight when he is shot or close to kid then you can bring up those fights when compairing :good Point is punch stats are bull a great deal of the time. Hatton landed more than they said it did. The Punch Stats: Castillo Mayweather 203 Landed 157 506 Thrown 448 40% Percentage 35% Power Punching Stats: Castillo Mayweather 173 Landed 66 377 Thrown 151 46% Percentage 44% 109 more power punch's mate that is a shitting all over if you go by the stats:good
Defense is simply avoiding getting hit; whether it is blocking a punch, parrying a punch, slipping a punch, rolling with a punch, ducking under a punch, or using your feet to move out of range. Floyd has a more textbook defense than Roy did, although Floyd's defense is not textbook either. Both Roy and Floyd rely on reflexes and speed to evade punches, but Roy did so to a greater extent. This leads me to believe Floyd would get hit less once his reflexes and speed erode.
Great defense is not getting hit mate, technical sence my ass. Also **** you name calling will get you nowhere :smoke
How past it was he against Oscar? 31 yrs old? Get outta here, thats how old Floyd is now. How past it was RJJ vs. Del Valle when he got dropped? 29. Why'd he get dropped? Again, a loose guard. Not technically sound. And Glen Johnson all about the same age as Roy when both KO'd him. He was fighting other grandparents, it's not like some young lion ripped right through him...and it's not like he took a beating his whole career. He just had a defense dependent on reflexes and speed, not technical boxing technique.
i get you but damn you couldn't hit floyd in a jail cell he rolls so good roy would get k'od in close quarters the only 1 close to his style is james toney i suprised no 1 mentioned him
That's a good comparison Floyd has a very similar defense to James Toney, but has better foot speed and movement.
:rofl :rofl :rofl Floyd is a better defensive technician than Roy ever was. Period. That's my argument, and you haven't even tried to argue against it. Cus' you're ignorant to your man-crush. I'm not even a Floyd fan. I can appreciate him, i have issues with Floyd...yes, but in terms of whose a better defensive technicial Roy or Floyd? Floyd, all day everyday.
Technically defensivly Floyd is much better. In practice prime Roy was as difficult to hit if not more.
We're talking accuracy, and defense. It's +5% of total punches. Mate? I'm not euro-trash so please speak with respect. :good
