    Is he?

I think the Johnson win is noticeable because Hopkins is the only fighter to stop him, which is a big achievement.

Trinidad, Tarver, Pavlik and Pascal are bigger wins

    AND

Oscar, Wright and Holmes are arguably bigger.

It should be obvious to everybody. Lacy knocked out Scott Pemberton and Robin Reid! SCOTT PEMBERTON AND ROBIN REID! Trinidad only destroyed some guy named William Joppy, showing an inferior skillset while doing so than the Tyson-clone Lacy did during his dominant and fear-instilling reign :good

Can you give me the breakdown of Lacy's title defence success when you get a second, brother? Nice one!

    THEN

Perhaps it would be nice to take into account that Trinidad had MUTILATED 154lbs and practically ended the careers of Vargas and David Reid. He was also regarded as top three pound for pound on any list.

I think I know where you're going but you need to weigh up Tito's skill, power and reputation vs. a run of shitty IBF title fights and 6lbs.

    No comparison!

TG1 - Are you saying Tarver wasn't weight drained for the Hopkins fight when he had to cut 50 lbs? Eubank, Kessler, Lacy wins > Tito, Pavlik, Tarver wins. And yes Lacy was better at super middle than Tito was at middle. Lacy won the title and made 6 defences and suffered a torn rotator cuff after that fight, Tito won a title with illegal hand wraps and lost just as convincgly to Wright in his next fight. He was nothing special at the weight and over rated in general.

    Tito's wins at mw:

    TKO5 Joppy
    TKO8 Mayorga
    TKO4 Cherifi

    Tito's losses at smw:

    TKOby12 Hopkins
    L12 Winky

    Lacy's best wins at smw:

W12 Omar Sheika (did he even deserve the decision here??? :think)
    RTD7 Reid
    KO2 Pemberton

    Lacy's losses at smw:

    L12 Calzaghe
    L12 J Taylor
    L12 Dhafir Smith

I'm really not seeing much to convince me that Lacy was a better smw than Tito was a mw.

Lacy struggled woefully with Sheika, Tito blew away Joppy, who was a world champion whereas Sheika was not.

And then we consider the fact that Tito had a much, much, MUCH better skillset than Lacy...

I think Failey has failed again here.

Can you name 2 active fighters with a better resumé than Bernard Hopkins?

    Because I can't.

How many fights was Maurice Hakkar signed up to for HBO?

    How about Carl Daniels?

Who is talking about Lewis vs. Tyson:lol: What the f*ck has that got to do with anything?

My ignorance? Look at the shape of this thread, mate! I've forgotten more than you know! Overall consensus and more importantly history are against you.

Calzaghe's resume will always read as "promise unfulfilled"

Reid who was a former WBC champ who won his title away in Italy, beat top 10 world rated Wharton, beat future WBC champ and K Holmes conquerer Cherifi, beat undefeated future Bute challenger Magee who became European champ and looked unlucky to Ottke one of the top SMWs ever. Great win for Lacy, far better than Joppy

I don't care what anyone says, Sheika win > Johnson win. No way would Hopkins have stopped a prime Johnson. Hopkins insn't very powerful at all, you could even say he's feather fisted at elite level.

Yeah, it's kind of ridiculous that this has to be debated. The fact that Trinidad was able to have some competitive rounds with Bernard Hopkins is all you need to know when comparing him to Jeff Lacy. Imagine Lacy against Hopkins. He wouldn't even come close to winning a round like Trinidad arguably did. And he wouldn't have had those moments Trinidad did where he forced Hopkins' back against the ropes and made him defend wicked power shots on the inside. Any way you look at it, Trinidad was miles ahead of Lacy. Lacy was just a plodding clubber. He didn't have Trinidad's timing, skill, single-punch power, or short punching.

The general consensus in this particular time is that Hopkins >>> Calzaghe. That gap will continue to widen as time goes on. Bernard's legacy will grow, especially if he beats Dawson and can get another nice win or two. Calzaghe will only have the paper accomplishments.

I love it when I get quoted out of context. What I said was at middleweight Hopkins cherrypicked, his resume (including people who beat him) is almost as strong as Calzaghe's now. Who's resume is better though? Marquez, Pacquioa, Morales, Roy Jones. Mayweather and Margrito are close. That's off the top of my head. The guy has been active a long time though.
