Garcia is definitely an A level fighter Jim. As for Devon, as a recent former world champion at the weight, who is currently just outside the top 10, I rate him an A-. When one takes into account the opponent, the level that said opponent was operating at AND and the manner of victory, I consider Amir's win over Alexander as his best performance (Maidana is undoubtedly Khan's best win, and that was a fantastic victory, but it was nowhere near as conclusive as Amir's domination of Devon).
The thing is though khan had more chances for the bigger fights and the bigger names because he turned and already was known around the world, brook had to do his apprenticeship and he was badly promoted by frank, brook got a world tittle now so people will have to fight him let's judge him from now on
:yep I too believe that the next 12 months is how we should judge Kell's reign as champion. I also believe that Khan (maybe as a result of the bouts he has been in) is on the downside of his career and Brook (maybe as a result of the bouts he has been in) is peaking.
Khan may have achieved more in his career, but boxing should be about what have you done recently. I know it doesn't always work that way, but it should. Khan's best win recently was against Alexander. Porter beat Alexander quite convincingly and Brook then beat Porter, so in todays current climate (if we are to rate boxers properly in terms of what have they done recently) then Brook is easily deserving of a fight against Khan. Add in the fact that they are both British, well known here and have had a rivalry for some time, this all adds up to the fight making monetary sense. Also, Brook has not been protected since beating porter. Dan was a mandatory and an obvious fight to test out Brook's leg after being stabbed. Gavin was the only viable and available fighter on the recent card due to the short notice of the Brook main event being added to the bill. Khan actively chose to fight Algieri over Brook and other more challenging opponent's as he wants to play it safe to keep him in the mix for a potential Mayweather fight. At the end of the day, this fight makes sense. It is relevant as they are both world class fighters, they would both make a lot of money from it and the winner would take a big step forward in getting a Mayweather fight.
Khan looked awful against Algieri. He looked noticeably slower in his speed and reactions. Usually when finding the negatives in a Khan fight people would rightly mention some technical deficiency (squaring his feet up when throwing punchers, throwing to many arm punchers, etc) or talk about his lack of ring intelligence in certain situations, but, you rarely have issue with his athleticism. I think it may be a bit early to write him of just yet, though. I read somewhere that he mentioned something about overtraining. Normally I take fighters excuses with a pinch of salt, but considering how sharp he looked in the Collazo and Alexander fights, it is possible that Khan did over train for the Algieri fight as he looked noticeably flatter and jaded. Hopefully he did just over train as I would love to see a prime Khan vs a prime Brook.
you have just gave khan his next excuse once he chooses to cash out against brook yet he is the one that will let his prime pass for this fightlol:
That may be true, but I was rating Khan on how he looked athletically. I wasn't looking at him comparatively to his opponent at the time, but rather mentally erasing his opponent and just looking at Khan's athleticism by itself.
Khan is the more accomplished of the two fighters. However, he has basically been cherrypicking favorable matchups since his loss to Garcia in hopes that he gets the fight with Floyd. And the fact that Khan is more accomplished does not mean that Brook is unworthy of the fight, nor does it mean he can beat Brook H2H. Brook is a fairly accurate boxer-puncher with solid pop and that's pretty much all you need to know with Khan's chin at an all-time low with Algieri's champion lifestyle 8 KO self buzzing him multiple times.
:thumbsup I and others have been saying this for weeks!!! Had Khan took the Brook fight and beat Kell, he would have been in a great position to fight Floyd. Now Amir and his "advisors" (who to be frank, are an utter joke) have blown any opportunity of a Mayweather fight.
I like Brook and want to see him do well and bring us big fight nights. But it has to be said, who has he fought? Other than Shawn Porter no other name stands out. Even then, what's Porter done? Beat Malignaggi and Alexander (of which Khan has already beaten) ? Khan has been around the world scene for years and been in with a lot of big names and good fighters, win or lose. Brook has just arrived onto the world scene. I don't blame Khan for chasing the Mayweather fight, it's a huge fight and Mayweather is a better fighter than Brook. I do hope though, that if that isn't made this September then he gives us the Brook fight.
Load of **** Senchenko is C- level but Malinaggi is A level. Did you see their fight? It was a lucky cut how Malinaggi won.
