    I'll keep it brief...

To say this fight is a tune-up is absolute dog****.

In all fairness, when Floyd wants an easy opponent, he takes one. Ever since he left lightweight, he has handpicked his opposition and avoided fighting anyone he thought might be too big or too much trouble.

Had he wanted an easy night, he could easily have had one, I doubt anyone from 135-147 would reject a payday against a possibly rusty Pretty Boy.

But he didn't. He chose the pound-for-pound number 2, who is actually the number 1 in the view of a small-to-decent sized minority.

OK, Marquez has never fought above 135. I am not denying that size will be an issue and that Mayweather will wield a fightnight advantage over JMM.

However, it's not such an advantage as to render the contest a mismatch now, is it? Not in my estimation.

In Marquez's last two fights he knocked out two top lightweights, neither of whom had ever been stopped before.

The man is at the top of his game. His punching power, counterpunching accuracy, warrior's heart and mentality - are we seriously going to write all of this off completely?

If I could have picked the next fight for Floyd, I would have chosen Floyd against the champion in his division, Shane Mosley. But we know Floyd has no intention of risking it against a top class welterweight.

If I could have picked the next fight for Marquez, I would have chosen Juan against Pacquiao again. But we know that Pacquiao is making more money fighting bigger men in ppv attractions.

But I can't pick their fights, this isn't an ideal world.

What I do know is that Marquez v Mayweather is sure to be a very intriguing and exciting fight.

How can a fight between two fighters of such a high skill level not be, especially when the stakes are so high?

Let's enjoy the build-up and the fight and stop ****ing moaning about it.

You guys deserve Mayweather v Baldomir and Marquez v Juarez again instead!

 nice. but i have to agree with dinamita, it's hard to imagine any situation where taking on the #2 p4p in the world AND at your lowest weight in 4 years is considered a soft touch

I posted this on the other "tune up" thread...;)

From the start I considered this fight a tune up:

    - Floyd coming from a long lay-off.
    - Floyd has all the advantages over JMM.
    - Floyd is 4 to 1 favorite to defeat JMM.
    - Floyd got 80% ($15M) of the purse to JMM's 20% ($3.75M).
    - This is a tune up fight. A mismatch fight.

Tho upsets once in a while do happened in tune up fights, even then I only gave JMM a 0.01% chance of winning...

JMM can effectively capitalize on mistakes done by an agressive boxer like PAC but PBF is not known as an aggressive boxer... PBF is a counterpuncher like JMM and is the better counterpuncher of the two... Be ready for a boring tactical chess match tune up fight between 2 master counterpunchers...

Floyd will win a comfortable decision as Marquez is more a counter puncher who is a tad one-dimensional when asked to force the issue.

Diaz maybe a bull like fighter whose style is designed to forage forward but he seriously backed up Marquez in their fight, a little too much for my liking. And that was at 135 pounds.

Mayweather obviously won't come forward like Diaz but he will take the centre of the ring and dominate him. Marquez just has nothing to hurt him with and will be reduced to the odd right hand and most of those will fall short.

You underestimate Marquez. He has serious power, and I believe he will carry it up well. Marquez has too much quality and intelligence and is too accurate not to land. He may not land often due to Floyd's superior mobility, but when he does land it will have an effect.

I think he'll have his moments early on. Nearly everyone does against Floyd.

It's when PBF starts using his tool box at the half way point that Marquez will begin to look in over his head.

I'm looking forward to the fight though. It's always interesting watching these two.

0.01%?, since when has JMM been considered a scrub?, a tomato can or a journeyman would have 0.01%, does JMM fall in that category?

Only a while ago people were saying Pac is running scared from JMM and many considered him P4P#1. Hell when he called out Mayweather after the Diaz fight people said Mayweather will duck him if he's officially challenged. :rofl

JMM will be thankful I gave him 0.01% chance of winning... What's laughable if someone will say "JMM has zero, zip, nada, no chance of winning"... I believe that a boxer will always have a chance of winning as long as he throws some punches hence the 0.01% for JMM...

Also, if it's a tune-up, what is it a tune-up for? For Manny?? Manny is the same size as Marquez. Personally I think stylistically Manny will indeed be a harder opponent for Floyd, but still it's not like Haye fighting Monte Barrett before he challenged Wlad Klit. Marquez and Pacquiao are on the same level as fighters. One cannot be a tune-up for the other.

JMM is the man at 135 but at 147 (or 144 if you like) JMM is just a toy for the big boys... Imagine the small JMM fighting Mosley, Cotto, Floyd... JMM has very tiny chance of winning against these big boys at welter...

PBF has all the advantages (maybe except experience) in this fight hence the 0.01% chance for JMM:

    - PBF the faster boxer
    - PBF the bigger boxer
    - PBF the better boxer/counterpuncher
    - PBF the stronger boxer
    - PBF the younger boxer
    - PBF the more skilled boxer

Can you give me one tangible advantage of JMM over Floyd?

How do you know he's a toy for the big boys?, wasn't that the exact same thing the majority said of Pacquiao when he made the move up?

Have you secretly seen Marquez fight at the weight?, if so, please tell us more.
