I thought it was close myself. Silva spent a lot of time on his back and was having trouble striking with chonan.
I thought I remembered Silva destroying Chonan for the most part of this fight, but I've just watched it all over again. Truly Anderson was not dominating this fight at all, the first 2 rounds we're very even and according to Bas, they we're Chonan's rounds. Silva landed some good punches but never really managed to land some clean combos, Chonan was very elusive and very good at blocking the kicks. He got 2 takedowns with a little bit of GnP. In the third, you could tell Silva was really annoyed by the incredible amount of leg kicks he took, and then BAM! Flying scissor heel hook!! The look on Chonan's face at the end shows it wasn't an easy fight but Anderson never really set the pace in this one. Never in his UFC career was he ever close to being dominated like that (except PED Sonnen). I think the main difference was that Chonan wasn't afraid to take punches and go after Silva, he landed 2 big overhand rights and tons of good quality leg kicks. UFC fighters tend to give Silva too much respect in the octagon. The UFC needs more of those relentless Japanese fighters. All in all, it was a great fight and clearly the most impressive submission I have ever seen. :good
Scur sees what he wants to, not what actually is, he's been sufferering from this illness for some time now.:nut
Big Nog`s anaconda roll was fkn class, the 1 he submitted Heath Herring with in their 2nd fight. I know its been done since but that was the 1st time I seen anyone do it & he did it to a very good fighter in his prime, a man that is rarely stopped & is as tough as rock hard ****.
Yep, superb.... excellent technique. Can you believe they tried to take this win away from Nick because traces of marijuana were found in his system ?... if anything that would be a performance de-enhancer (not a real word I dont think but you get my point)..... I say they TRIED because everyone with a brain knows this was a win for Diaz, no contest ma ass.
Chonnan definitely was losing that fight. He wasn't getting beat up, but he was being peppered en route to losing a decision.
