I would give him props and be thoroughly impressed, just as I've been saying all along.

Now what say you when the inverse proves true?

Or Calzaghe and anyone with a pulse pre November 2007 :yep

Not signing on for a Hopkins win here, cause I still got Calzaghe by UD... But after reading Enzo's comments about Haye-Macca, my opinion might be slightly swaying. :D

Hopkins can't stop Taylor and Winky, but he's going to stop Joe Calzaghe?

    Where's the logic there?

Let's add some additional logic, Hopkins struggles heavily against Taylor's workrate and handspeed, but he's going to easily neutralise a MUCH BETTER fighters workrate and handspeed and tremendous movement and excellent defence/versatility to top it off?

Some of you idiots amaze me.

As the fight gets closer I'm feeling more and more that Hopkins will make Ol Joe look like a fool. If he looks like he is even 37 years old he will knock Joe out. If he is indeed human, and shows some age he will still badly outclass that wide slapping I mean punching clown.

Taylor and Calzaghe have a different kind of workrate. Taylor pushes people back with his 1-2 or 1-1-2 while Calzaghe just side slaps with mediocre power leaving himself open down the middle.

Hopkins wins, and it will seem easy.

Calzaghe is a rythm fighter, Bernard a thinking fighter... Disrupt Calzaghe's rythm with movement and you can turn him into a Sam Soliman, an awkward featherfisted fighter with zero technique.

Taylor was a heavyhanded fighter and Hop was getting weak at 160. So he basically went safety first, trying to dodge punches 100% instead of merely rolling with them.

Calzaghe has zero power, zero balance and Bernard is strong at 175. Very different story. Bernard will move+maul vs. Calzaghe, he'll make him look like a *****.

Anyone that says this fight will be 'easy' (either way) is an arsehole;)

Handily? Certainly not...but will he have to dig in as deep as he did against Kessler? No.

I think ESB is something like 5-1, in big fights

Make of that what you will.

Let me say that I am 100% in agreement with Amsterdam here for what that's worth.

There is no logic in Hopkins looking for the kayo, because he fights out of the back foot ... As simple as that. Calzaghe fights behind an assertive jab, leading with his right foot to force Hopkins to backpedall anti-clockwise and possibly to lose his back foot. Hopkins can't force the action keeping his lead foot on the outside, stepping back from the incoming flack and moving quickly to counter when Calzaghe slides out of position.

I believe "knee is the key". You should always balance / lead on your front leg (right for southpaws and left for orthodox fighters) and your leading leg should be in line with your knee.
If I lean on my front leg my power is going to be more explosive. I will always be ready to punch. If I lean on my back leg I lose my power.

My back foot is my "joystick" and I use that to move in different directions. Therefore, Hopkins success depends entirely on Calzaghe "pushing" his punches or not... It's nothing he can guarantee.
