Turning fans away from the sport is taking money out of the fighters pockets in the long term as well...so by putting boxing on a small, well hidden TV channel that draws an almost nobody surely Mr W is doing the fighters an equally big dis-service as those who stream fights? Money is hard to come by for the average person especially just before christmas but Mr W feels thats an apt time to turn his station to subscritpion...I'd say alienating fans is devaluing the sport personally...

What cracks me up about people like LC, is they preach yet they are same ones downloading illegal copies of HBO & Showtime Boxing everyweek. You're commiting a bigger offence storing a hard copy of a event you have no legal right to access in the UK.

Under LC's notion, you would infact never have seen 70% of the fights that took place outside the UK, because no one had right to show these fights, nor distribute hard copies after the event.

Infact HBO and others have took action against several sites & Youtube channels storing and offering content they own.

In a sense you're a clueless ****wit. I have never downloaded a hard copy of any fight or stored such content.

You really are as delusional as you are incredibly thick.

How do you think boxing fans followed the sport before the days of the internet? We bought magazines, we subscribed to the IWBR and Fight Fax and bought publications like the BBBofC yearbook. It is possible to be a boxing fan without illegally streaming or downloading copywrited material. Don't assume that everyone has your same questionable moral standards.

You really do believe that you are providing a service to boxing and its fans, where as in actual fact you are helping to kill the sport.

Working in the industry, both with promoters putting out shows on TV and ipTV I know how little money there is to be made. Your activities are costing the broadcasters and promoters money and are ultimately taking cash out of the fighter's pockets.

As for the technical issues, regardless of where the content comes from or how it is shared, you are providing the conduit and delivery platform.

I don't know him personally, just about what he does. The people who need to know about him are aware of his activities and are actively taking steps to resolve the issue.

See I have a massive problem with the personal attack on Gary. Fair enough I get your point but you have hit out on Bunce criticism yet nail Barlow. I have Sky, ESPN and Boxnation but dont think any less of folk on here who watch via the kebab shop. We are in a recession and fans are feeling the pinch big time. Promoters and channel's alike are making this sport even more diversified each day that comes with all these new channel's and contracts etc.

As for taking money out of fighters pocket's I see your point. But these guys are not being paid by the promoter let alone the fans :-(

Lets have it right there is boxing on channel 5 (the only free channel to show boxing), sky, espn, premier sports, boxnation and primetime. You must be deluded to think fans can afford all those channel's to watch their boxing. It isn't fighters that are getting robbed, it is us fans!!!

It costs something like $5 for 10 minutes usage of Fightfax website. This service is free with Boxrec. In a recent interview in Boxing Monthly, the owner of Boxrec said he had no plans to charge for the usage of Boxrec and commented on the social value of the Boxrec site, when he rightly pointed out examples of how boxers from other parts of the world can evade unscrupulous practices from some money-orientated managers who will put them in with anyone, regardless if it is in the best interests of the young boxer.

I think Lou di Bella said recently something to the effect of, show someone in boxing who says they dont use Boxrec and I will show you a liar.

I agree with the premise that these illegal sites are killing boxing, but each stakeholder in the game needs to look at themselves in the mirror and ask if they can also do anything differently for the betterment of the sport. I think a website like Boxrec is just as important as an embryonic boxing channel, but lets see if there is a change in attitude all round before jumping on a bandwagon under the auspices of 'it for the betterment of boxing'. Lots of things are for the betterment of boxing.

  11. 99% of people will accept something for nothing over paying for it given the choice.

I've bought knocked off football shirts, golf clubs, DVD players.... allsorts.

Like Padman says, I'd begrudge paying £10 a month for a channel if the people I'm paying to watch aren't receiving their money.

Iv'e not got a problem with Bunce, you cant expect him to speak up and put himself in the **** with his employers, I think deep down he isn't happy about the situation but you can't expect a man to get the sack or a lawsuit filed against him for speaking the truth IMO.

I totally agree with this. The problem is a certain promoter with a TV channel has closed ranks, ripped allot of us and his fighters off in the process.

A dedicated boxing channel was never good for the sport.
