No. Cotto needs a winnable fight at a weight most suitable for him.

Cotto vs. Guerrero at 147 (wish it can be Ortiz vs Cotto but Vic's off the shelf for now)
Canelo vs. Trout (will settle for Kirkland or Rosado or Thurman)

Ortiz and Berto are probably the only two big name guys left that Cotto can still beat.

They both ****in suck. Even a faded Cotto can handle both.

No need for the petition. Cotto's loss sealed the deal as far as GBP is concerned. Schaefer already said he still is looking at making his fight. :rofl

They have a PPV date they now have to fill for the 4th of May.
Obviously the 3 choices they had in mind were Cotto, Mayweather & Martinez.
Looks like all 3 will be unavailable.

2 because they just either had a fight or will be coming off a fight, the other well...
Who is left that will "Sell" a PPV as a B-side to Alvarez?

why wold yoiu want to see canelo fight the loser of trout/cotto instead of the winner?

wtf is it to you if it is more profitable? do you share some sort of profit-sharing with gbp? a vested interest? are you a shareholder?

why is it that only canelo nuthuggers such as yourself want to see canelo fight yet another blown-up welterweight, faded and past-his-prime opponent?

if you take el corredors dick out of your mouth you may be able to think more clearly.

    cotto can still be competetive.

    just not at 154.

miguel and floyd are blown-up welterweights that have no business fighting with 10 ounce gloves at this point in their careers.

mayweather knew this and now cotto does as well after saturday night.

This. Unless Cotto is fighting Guerrero, Ortiz, Berto at welterweight or somebody like Bundrage at 154 just to exit the sport with a title, I have no interest in seeing him get beat up again by the better fighters at 147-154. He's a shell of what he used to be, which you're right - should still be enough to kick Ortiz and Berto's incredibly mediocre asses. Both are less durable than the current Miguel too in my estimation.

Canelo should fight Trout. It'd be a Hopkins fighting Jones post-Danny Green embarrassment for Canelo if he were to go through with a Cotto fight. At least Hopkins had a nearly two-decade grudge with Roy and paid his dues being well into his 40s. Canelo is a young champion who hasn't fought any of the elites and was even called out by Trout, who beat his own brother, in Spanish.

    **** Cotto-Canelo.

Trout is the one that deserves that fight. But just like when Carlos Molina beat Cintron and Cintron got the shot at Canelo, the same thing will happen here. Cotto is the one that lost but will get the shot at the GingerMex.

  12. Let's do this fellas! The fight appears to be happening anyways wooo!! But let's push Schaefer even more!!

  13. Truth is we want this fight. It makes sense too on all sides.

    - Canelo gets to fight a tough proven fighter to prepare himself for a bigger threat.
    - Cotto's chance to redeem himself.
    - Mexico vs. Puerto Rico - it will sell.
    - Cotto coming from a brave attempt against a bigger guy which proves this warrior fights everyone.
    - Show clips of the Trout fight and Cotto's best moments portraying him like a relentless attacker.
    - Then show clips from the Mayweather fight.
    - Have 5 experts talk about how styles make fights and this will be a very intriguing fight. Canelo's toughest challenge to prove he is ready. Many will pick Cotto to pull it off too which will make the fight that much more appealing.
    - Looking at it, this is exactly the fight Canelo needs. He can't be thrown to a Mayweather type fighter until he fights a Cotto.
    - And for Cotto, this is a very winnable fight and perfect situation to solidify his place in boxing history and erase the Trout fiasco.

^^ I will email all of thise points to Golden Boy in a professional essay style proposition and bombard them on Twitter with them. They're already leaning on makingit anyways. I'll deliver the final push.

Cotto would have deserved this fight had he won. Signing a petition for him to fight Canelo after losing against Trout doesn't seem to help boxing.

well I am sure Cotto can do what Duran used to do and make up an excuse why he lost. Then after a few months people forget it and the promotion will make the fight seem like a great matchup. The problem is Cotto might lose and take another beating and is that good for him or boxing? Canelo seems like a strong 154 pound guy who could beat Cotto easily enough at this point.
