I wanted to buy a signed Ali glove ince. But I cant tell if its fake or legit for sure so didnt buy it...
Thats quite a collection. Did you have them signed personally? With me i looked up fighters on the electoral register in the U.K. and then sent them photos in the post asking if they would be kind enough to sign them for me. I think its nicely though when a fighter signs something for you when your with them.
All of them except Ali and Toney signed personally. The Ali one was a gift, and I got the James Toney one at the IBHOF.
I have tons....first was ttm, Sugar Ray Leonard in 1984 at age 12. Then my dad used to sell and distribute candy on a van in Puerto Rico so he found out bwhere many boxers lived at, he'd ask them for permission to visit them and we did, Luis Francisco Ortiz (Silver medal, 1984 Olympics) Samuel Serrano, Ossie Ocasio, Julian Solis, Victor Callejas, Pedro Montanez, Edwin Rosario, Wilfred Benitez. Then I moved to the US, my brother became an autograph collector and slowly the entire family was into that hobby. I mean REALLY got into it. I found out the NSAC had an address list with addresses of boxers who had fought there the last 20 or so years and I bought Kayo cards, wrote for the list, and started writing right away. I got John John Molina, Rosario, Carlos Palomino, Roberto Duran, Jimmy Ellis, Evander Holyfield, Muhammad Ali, Vinnie Paz, Sonya Anayi, Brenda Burnside, Gabriel Ruelas, Rafael Ruelas, Wilfred Benitez again, George Foreman, Michael Moorer, Michael Nunn, Ricardo Lopez, Roy Jones, Jr., Bonnie Canino, Ray Mancini, Roger Mayweather, Cornelius Boza Edwards, Alex Ramos, Lou Savarese, Joe Frazier, Larry Holmes, Tito Trinidad, Bobby Czyz and many others like that. When I found out you could write through the IBHOF to inductees too, I got Carmen Basilio, Willie Pep, Floyd Patterson and Bob Foster through them. At the same time I was in a group that we called ourselves the CIA of autograph collectors locally because we knew where all types of celebrities were going to be at beforehand. Airports, hotels, gyms, malls, coliseums, we had people working for us in those places! We were there whenever a person was staying, flying in, going to an event or just at a good old autograph signing. In the boxing end of it, I met Michael Carbajal, Sean O Grady, Palomino, Leonard, Wilfredo Gomez, Ken Norton, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., Kostya Tszyu, Hector Camacho Sr and Jr., Jorge Castro, James toney, Holyfield, Ali, Lennox Lewis, Jake La Motta, Mike Tyson, Pernell Whitaker, Duran, David Tua, Jose Torres, Laura Serrano, Christy Martin, David Avanesyan, Shane Mosley, Danny Romero, Philip Holiday, Jones, Jr, Jorge Paez, Fernando Vargas, Tony Baltazar, Boza Edwards, Yori Boy Campas, Jesus Gonzalez, Alex Sanchez, and a few others. Trainers I met that way also included Lou Duva and Emanuel Stewart, two of the nicest people you can meet in boxing. I also got an autograph in person from Bob Arum, very nice, contrary to Don King who is an a-hole. Then I discovered a few websites with celebrity addresses online like Startiger. Thanks to them I also got autographs from Tony Demarco, Max Schmeling, Danny Green, Danny Lopez and from Marvelous Marvin Hagler. And I met Harrison Foster who gifted me with a cancelled check signed by his mom, the beautiful Vicky La Motta!
