In 1926, modest journeyman Jamaica Kid challenged Jack Delaney for the LHW title (NYSAC version), losing in the 3rd round... coming off an unbroken losing streak of 17 fights!

This is quite amazing. I tend to rail on the WBA and their backroom schemes on okaying unfit challengers. But this was the staunch NYSAC agreeing to this challenger. Moreover, Delaney had knocked him out in 2 rounds a year earlier. What could this possibly prove? It should have been scheduled for 10 rounds-non-title. Great find, Bukkake.

Tony Tucker lost 3 out of his last 5 fights and was somehow allowed to fight for vacant WBO title vs Herbie Hide.
