Collectively, I don't think he is getting a pass here :good Anderson Silva doesn't believe he can beat JJ at his best :deal.
Everybody talks about what Silva or Jones wants. But it all comes down to Dana White or the front office. If he wants this fight to happen, it WILL happen. Jose Aldo didn't want any part of Pettis. A day or two later they're fighting. Blame it on Dana if Jones-Silva doesn't happen. If it's to materialize it has to be asap since it will lose its "superfight" luster if Cormier beats the hell out of Jon Jones which is very possible.
Different situation. Pettis said that he wanted to fight Aldo in Aldo's weight class, and there are no FW opponents for Aldo that are well-known enough to do a decent number on a fight. If Anderson said that he was willing to go to 205, this fight would be signed the day after Sonnen/Jones. Additionally, Aldo and Silva are at two completely different levels of stature in the organization. Dana may have bullied Silva and threatened to cut him after that **** he pulled against Maia, but that was three years ago. Brazil has emerged as a major market for the UFC, and Silva is a big star down there. There's no way in hell that he's going to pushed around by Zuffa brass. Let's see Cormier, who almost died the last time that he had to make 211, actually get down to LHW before you start talking about him merking Jones.
