I dont know, but I'm sure we will find out, however I never said Sonnen has no chance I just think he is receiving a bit too much hype since ALMOST beating anderson silva.

sonnen is a great wrestler a weakness of silvas (at least he loses points to these types of fighters he has beat quite a few really great wresters) silva had a rib injury, and sonnen was caught with a ped test. Add to that silva still beat him!

Sonnen still gets so much credit for that, its only a matter of time before sonnen gets put back in his proper place. If it is not wand it will be someone else guaranteed.

 

The really big unknown in this fight would I'd say be how the grappling would go, I have no doubt Sonnen would be able to take Wanderlei down but could he hold him and if he can could he avoid being subbed?

In the past Wanderlei's game has been to defend from his back but we have seen glimpses of a dangerous BJJ game(almost armbarred Saku and triangled Yoshida). Given the smart fight he fought vs Bisping I wouldnt be supprized if he changes tactics to go after that obvious weakness in Sonnens game that wasnt there vs someone like Arona.

 

Yes, far bigger. GSP got caught with a lucky shot, it happens. Fedor made a silly mistake and got punished. Both were huge upsets, but the result of one silly lapse. Sonnen beat the dog**** outta Silva for 5 rounds. Never thought id see that in my life

 

Then I think you bought into the hype around Anderson rather than judging his abilties. Sonnens takedowns threw his standup off more than I expected and he took longer to exploit his poor sub defence but the way the match went wasnt that shocking to me.

Nah judging Silva's abilties I expected Sonnen to take him down repeatly, what supprized me was that he didnt sub him more quickly or catch him standing.

Taking the view "this guy is #1 MW and PFP so he must have great wrestling" is unrealistic.

This would sorta work except I've seen Sonnen face to face with Silva and he looks like a *****. Full credit to him for his confidence, which had to have sky rocketed when he got Silva down, but he's all talk.
