last nights fight with sonnen showed he aint no unbeatable striking god and the 1st rnd when sonnen landed the straight right proves it! because sonnen is NO striker! now if silva was fighting belfort he would of been in big big trouble! cant wait to see this fight and then a sonnen rematch if he beats belfort but i think both can beat him!
I dont think Belfort can take Silva down as easily and I still think Silva will edge the striking. I just dont see the heart of Chael in Vitor. I wouldnt be surprised if Vitor fights scared tbh.
Vitor has quick hands and has power. He can catch silva and hurt him. I think this fight will be a stand up war cuz belfort is better with his striking than with his BJJ.
Theres nothing more I would love than to see Vitor bumrush Anderson ala Wand but those days may be long gone. Vitor is very enigmatic. But I do see the rational of him knocking Silva a couple of times since Chael whos not known for power was able to do so.
Totally agree..Sonnen didnt give a **** about Silva from the day this fight was announced up until he got tapped.He had himself believing he was the best and man he was up until the late 3min mark of round 5.. No fear in Chael Sonnen at all..The bloke fooled me.Man to think this guy had lost 10fights going into this bout.You wouldnt believe it. Im not so sure Vitors Heart and self confidence is as high as Sonnens.
He lost most on subs but on positioning and control, he won most if not all. Hes one of the typical confident wrestler who wouldnt concentrate on other aspects because he is really THAT GOOD! as a wrestler. This is no Matt Hughes who while more dominant in the division, isnt the wrestler Chael is, thats why Hughes became very well rounded, his fights with Hallman made him realize he needs to improve his game.
I think it would be a great standup war, people always think Silva will dominate the standup but who's the best standup fighter he has fought? of course he looks unbeatable onhis feet but he hasn't fought another guy who has great standup. I think Belfort can compete on his feet with Anderson and should be a great fight. Sonnen should have to win another fight and then get another shot to the winner.
I pick Silva, I just don't think Belfort is as good as he is made out to be, and the one thing that is certain he doesn't have the toughness of Sonnen
