Pardon me if this thread has been done, but has there been any specifics about this fight actually happening? My access to MMA news has been limited while I'm deployed but I know people were hyping it and chanting GSP during that..really..sad Maia/Silva fight. I heard it'd be a catchweight of about 180 since GSP will probably never be anything but content to stay at welterweight and Anderson i doubt could make 170.

Does anyone think GSP could beat Silva? He brings a hell of a lot to the fight but after seeing Silva floor Griffin with a halfhearted jab,I think GSP would have bitten off more than he could chew ala BJ Penn/GSP.Plus Silva has a lot of reach on him if i have my stats right.

I don't see GSP beating Silva unless Silva ends up weight drained.

That's one of my reservations about this fight.I know Silva has claimed he can get down to Welterweight, then you consider James Irvin draining to Middleweight and looking like Skeletor.Silva is already pretty skinny,i think it'd get worse and that would severely tarnish any prestige with GSP beating him.

When do the UFC fighters do their weigh ins?

How much time from weigh in till fight?

Day before the fight.give or take 18-24hours.But not much time for you to recover from the torture you may of put the body through to get down to a weight you really shouldnt be at.

Yep.Their weigh-ins are pretty much conducted the same way as with Boxing.Day before, pose for pictures, get some quotes. But James Irvin makes weight to fight 205,so that was an extra 20 pounds to shed on top of whatever else he cut.It wasn't pretty.Dana White told him to never do it again.

Hope it happens..it would be nice to see gsp fight as the underdog. 180 should be the weight limit cuz there's no way silva will be effective at 170.

I think GSP can win. I never was a fan of Silva anyway

I would love to see this fight. I honestly don't believe that GSP could win unless the weight cut gets to Silva. It would be awesome to see Silva KO GSP.

I've been having a hard time deciding if WW was weak or if GSP was that good. But then again, if Penn can lose to Edgar, GSP is bound to lose again too.
