I aint huge in the mma community so i got question, but my buddy told me if silva(which won his fight) and GSP win there last fights they will fght each other? Is this true anyone know info on this?
It all depends on whether GSP is willing to take the challenge. There is nothing left for him at welter, UFC specifically signed Shields to give him a challenge, but he looked very average in his first fight. GSP will probably destroy him with ease. If he doesn't go up to middle after that, he never will.
we still don't know if he is, Dana said that if Silva and GSP win their title defenses this fight would make all the sense it the world. GSP hasn't confirmed anything yet and I believe he might want a top 10 Middleweight before going straight to Silva.
One would hope that GSP is smart enough to try out the waters before jumping in.A bout at that weight first with another opponent would seem appropriate.
that would be a good move for GSP. he's a big man for a welter, but jumping weights in MMA is a completely different animal than in boxing. after saying that, GSP-silva makes a lot more sense than GSP-penn did
I'm sure he doesn't want to rush into this, but the way Dana is talking it seems like he might put some pressure on him. He seems to be clear that he wants this fight in 2011, which would mean after his defense vs Shields. Going straight for the P4P king while jumping in weight doesn't seem very smart. :huh
I don't think bisping is a good fight to easy for gsp he needs a strong 185er to prepare him for the size and strength of silva!
They're not doing a tune. Dana made it pretty clear that GSP gets an immediate title shot if he moves up. Nothing wrong with that, even in boxing that happens frequently particularly if you factor in the lack of obvious 'keey busy' fights in the UFC.
yeah but dana's thinking 'money', GSP has to be smarter than that and test the waters first. EDIT : silva fight is going nowhere if that's what he wants to do
GSP takes down Rashad anytime at practice and this is well documented. Lutter took Silva down at will. Ive been watching MMA since 94' and I tell you now, iIf GSP cant take Silva down and keep him down then I would stop posting here. And if you think Chael has better sub defense than GSP trhen I will flat out stop watching MMA. Silva can KO GSP, no doubt but knowing that wrestling is the most dominant style in MMA, and if Silva gets taken down, advantage GSP.
yeah wrestling is dominant. chael was a world class wrestler who lost perspective and in effect - belief in himself - when he started doping. so everything he did is discredited after all that hard work - and ability while he was doing that and with his background, nobody could have dealt with him and he knew it. i agree with what you say in theory but watching MMA is a hell of a lot different than competing in it. but this fight has to happen and i'll be a legit nail into boxing's coffin if it's made
Nothing in the Middleweight division will prepare GSP for Anderson Silva. He needs a credible opponent who GSP can look good against and we can see what he has at the weight. I don't like Bisping as much as the next guy, but he's not at all an easy opponent. Despite being a high calibre kickboxer, Bisping is not elite on his feet and makes silly tactical errors, case in point the Henderson fight where he foolishly circled the wrong way. An Anderson Silva could blow him out of the water, a tactical GSP doing something that's never happened to Bisping and dominate him on the ground would speak volumes for his skill. I'd also love to see him face Sonnen but he's prone to submissions from anywhere and is a more riskier opponent, considering if he took GSP down, I think he'd find it very hard to get him off, especially considering he's a big Middleweight.
