Jones is 6'4 and only 23 years old possibly some filling out to do. Do you expect a move to Heavyweight in a few years.
Jones walks around at 230Ibs and has stopped lifting to stay in the lhw division. His future is almost certainly at heavyweight, as he's acknowledged himself.
i know, that is partly because of his height but if you look at his built, he seems lanky compared to the likes of carwin, mir (at least the bigger version), gonzaga and brock. he has quickness of course but I doubt he will be as dominant in the heavy as he is in light heavy. I do not fancy his chances in taking down the likes of fedor, carwin, even mir.
vladimir matsyushenko. an old and small light heavy. pretty much over in a minute. TKO. overwhelmed. size. speed. height. glorified work out for jones. he already has 11 wins or is it 12. in any case, this kid is ripe for bigger fights.
He wouldn't have to bulk up that much to be of comparable size with Velasquez and he's probably already about the same weight as JDS. People overestimate how many 260Ibers there are in the heavyweight division - Lesnar is probably the only one where that's his optimum weight (Carwin looked a lot better coming in at around 255-260Ibs against Mir than he did against Lesnar at 270Ibs).
true but watching him fight smaller or older guys and slower guys typically makes it uninteresting as the opponent poses no challenge at all. maybe if we can match him up against someone who has great take down defense, we will see a much better fight. as of now, jones vs silva should be considered before jones moves up to the heavies.
Dana's been protecting him for way too long. Its time to put him in with the likes of Rampage or Evans, and if he passes that test then its Machida, Rua, Silva and Boetsch
precisely. the guy is talented, probably dana is protecting him as a new star to replace the likes of rampage etc.
