So GSP has to beat Condit to get that fight with Silva? Im sick of this ****. GSP want to fight Silva staight up. Why does he have to fight this fight? Silvas old. Dana White should make make him fight Jon Jones
They are banking too much on GSP. He's facing probably the most dangerous opponent since Thiago Alves. I know, Alves was trashed by GSP, but Condit is a much more complete fighter. Not as strong, but more versatile. Who wouldn't want to see Silva-GSP, but they should talk about it after the fight.
He's a threat to anyone at WW. GSP has been out for a long time and is coming off of a bad injury. Condit is far from a guaranteed win.
Against a 100% GSP? No i'd say CC is not a threat. But nobody knows what GSP will be like. So I'd say a tune-up fight with a respected fighter sounds reasonable. And I agree, i'll believe it when I see it. Although, it may not be so far fetched, the way a lot of fights have lost their lustre due to injuries and aging top fighters. This could be another reason to be excited about MMA again.
Your thread title is misleading. Condit might spoil this whole party and the perfect way to make that happen is for GSP to start thinking about Silva instead of Condit. He might get his ****ing clock cleaned. Not to mention all of the ring rust that GSP is going to have to shake off. Fortunately for him - Condit has been on the shelf since February.
C'mon Winfella, Penn is 5'9 natural 155er Carlos is 6ft plus 170lber...Not a good comparison. Condit actually has more submission wins than BJ too, and Georges isnt allowed to grease any more and Carlos' triangles and sweeps off his back are top notch
If Condit wants to play the leg kick game with St Pierre, i imagine St Pierre will oblige, or take him down, or probably both Condit for me is at his most dangerous when coming in, stepping in with his strikes, stepping in with elbows and combinations, this presents him a problem in that St Pierre can take anybody in the division down at will when there actually moving away from him, when fighters come in, he literally doesnt miss a TD So what does Condit do ??, fight a Diaz style fight looking to surgically score points on GSP without being taken down ??, like some have suggested actually look to sub him or cut him open from the bottom ??, or poor it on like Condit does ?? It will be interesting because what ever he decides to do, i see him on his back being controlled / out struck and neutralised
Condit is a well rounded JJ practitioner, thats undeniable But so is / was Penn regardless of weight, would you like Condit over Penn in a GI ??, im not sure i would, plus Penn has an outstanding guard (greasing is a good point :think) St Pierre's top game seems absolutely flawless, id love Condit to be able to sweep St Pierre, believe me i would but i just dont think he can
No doubt GSP can and will take him down, but it's not going to be a Dan Hardy situation here, Carlos will make him work whilst on his back. He is also very dangerous with knees in the clinch to and is the taller guy so pressing him up against the cages is also a different proposition to the Thiago match GSP is going to have to work in this fight, he aint kodding CC or tapping him or riding and easy UD. This isnt going to be a case of neutralisation the way I see it, George is going to be in a fight here
100% irrelevant. They aint fighting in a Gi, and Condits lanky legs and good guard are a different proposition from Penn. As you mentioned Carlos will be looking to fire leg kicks to GSP's lead leg and his right leg is the one operated on, could make a difference late in the fight and CC could kod GSP on the feet I think Maybe dont disagree there, but will GSP's stamina hold up after such a long lay off, we'll see
Well .............................. I hope your right, because the way is see this is St Pierre W Carlos Condit UD 5 50-45 I mean i just cannot visualise Condit being that dangerous off his back that once GSP has secured the TD, he is going to be able to sweep or submit ??, i just dont think he's that good to be honest On the feet he has what i would perceive as an advantage in striking ability, but St Pierre aint no slouch in that department either, if he clinches St Pierre he's heading to the mat, St Pierre will drop for that double at half an opportunity
Its not really irrelevant is it ??, i was comparing Penn to Condit, as a JJ practitioner, and i believe Penn would tap him in a GI The problem with leg kicks is that you present an opportunity to your opponent to shoot and drive, St Pierre seems to be the number 1 fighter in the sport for the power double, its like he cant miss it, he shoots he scores i mean its literally as easy as that for him, if Condit can catch St Pierre with leg kicks for 5 rounds ill be astonished :deal Stamina will be an issue, Condit will make him work, has he got the gas ??, we'll see ......................
