As a fan of GSP, I can't see how he takes this; Silva's just too big and strong for him. Knowing Dana White he'll just throw GSP in there without even so much as a tuneup at middleweight so he can get acclimated.
If Silva was just lucky to beat Chael, then GSP has a better chance than Chael. I am not sure if Sonnen is that much stronger than GSP but I know GSP is much stronger than Travis Lutter. But I do agree, the size difference is a big one but if this ends up in the ground I favor GSP.
If GSP beats Silva it''ll be by decision after five rounds of takedowns and GNP. I doubt he'll hurt Silva or have him in any tough spots, but he could win. Silva though can win by KO, sub or decision and could hurt GSP. I'd be hoping for GSP, but I just don't see him beating Silva at all.
Silva would rightly enter as favourite but I can see both guys winning. When a guy is scared of a takedown it changes the whole dynamic of the fight on the feet and I don't see GSP getting subbed, I was dissapointed it took Silva 5 rounds to sub Sonnen to be honest. At some point in this fight I would expect Silva to catch GSP though and then I see him finishing it.
In striking yes but haven't we always thought that is the case. However, GSPs striking is underrated because he got sparked out.
His striking is underrated because he has very little power. Not bad technically, but Silva won't have to worry about landing his sharp counters because GSP has little chance of hurting him stood up.
Then why are we looking forward to this fight again ? If we all agree that Anderson is too big ? (not to mention this guy cuts to fight at middle weight)..
That was a 183 lb ( 83 kg ) - 6 ft 0 in ( 1.83 m ) can. Why did you even bother saying: "If proven 185 + pound wrestlers Chael & Henderson couldnt do it...." then ?
Well, if it happens it's a no lose situation for GSP. It seems most people think he has no chance. Of course, I can remember a lot of people saying that about Sonnen too. Granted, Chael is a natural middleweight, but I think George is capable of implementing a similar game plan as Sonnen did. I wouldn't bet a whack of cash on GSP to win, but I'm certainly not writing off his chances.
If GSP wins it will be by lay and pray. I think silva should look to fight good 205 guys and not GSP.
