I virtually followed Oscar De La Hoya throughout his whole career, did he have rhythm? erm yes, but rhythm is something dancers have right? was he best up on his toes? IMO he was, but we never ever saw this in prolonged periods, it was flashes in rounds, not substantial enough over the course of a fight to maximize effect

He wasnt rooted, but he wasnt a big mover either

Did Floyd Sr not tell him he wouldnt coach him?

Sr. said he would coach him, but asked for a $2 million fee to do so. DLH thought about it for awhile, decided he didn't want to pay that much, and hired Roach instead for that fight.

Floyd Sr. said after the fight that he thought Jr. had lost though, oddly enough.

Yeah, if I was as rich as Oscar, I'd still have done it anyway. Sr. is a better boxing strategist than Roach, and he might have been able to get in Jr.'s head and throw him off a bit psychologically before/during the fight (regardless of how calm and collected Floyd Jr. is in the ring, it has to be tough to fight with your dad coaching your opponent across the ring.)

I was being slightly sarcastic mate, if Oscar agree's to 2M, Senior wants 3M and so on, I just dont think he would of coached him to fight his own Son period!

Looking back I'd say Roach was in his pinnicle then and dragged the very best from De La Hoya at that stage of his career.

Strangely though, Senior seemed firmly on board for the DLH corner, when the re-match was planned.

    What re-match

The match was never "planned" what would you say to your boss who is paying you substantial amounts of money to coach him to fight Steve Forbes?

Who was supposed to train Forbes for the DLH fight?

I think Freddie Roach would of seen dollar signs in abundance if Mayweather Sr lost his job, not to mention virtually every top coach in the world

Edit; Who was supposed to train Forbes or Oscar?

    It went like this buddy.

DLH loses to Mayweather with Roach.

Oscar and Mayweather discuss re-match for the fall at 147lbs.

DLH decides he can improve his chances by staying active.

Signs to fight Forbes on regular HBO, and re-instates Senior as head trainer.

Forbes begins his training camp, with ROGER MAYWEATHER as his coach.

A month before the fight, Roger resigns, as Floyd Mayweather Junior instructs him to. Reason sited was that Mayweather wanted no chance of a Forbes upset which would ruin plans of a rematch. (Source = HBO Countdown to DLH vs Forbes)
