Go easy on Josh, he only had 11 months to prepare for his unnecessary rematchroom bout, despite being comprehensively beaten in London.
Acquiring what he thought was the pick of the litter of trainers, America had to offer.
Meanwhile his opponent suffered degrees of discomfort, but just faced up to the unnecessary task of repeating his particular dose of medicine with aplomb and grace.

 

Perhaps using a teenage, amateur light-heavyweight as a main sparring partner wasn't the right preparation.

Every time I hear about a Joshua sparing partner I am always amazed by how inexperienced they are or the fact that I have never heard about them.

 

And to boost Joshua's ego. And to save him a few quid on paying a professional.

 

Seems to be a thread emerging here - coaches there to massage AJ's ego or tell him what he wants to hear. And that seems to have been since the Ruiz fight when it all started coming undone - remember him asking what shot knocked him down, etc, but the coaches didn't really have an answer. Since then it's been "doing great AJ, keep at it" no matter how well he's doing?

I guess if you spend your time with Team GB rather than a more professional-focused gym then that might happen - I'd thought he might head somewhere else for this past camp after doing the rounds of US trainers...

Sounds like Joshua’s glass heart can’t handle any pressure in sparring so his team of yes men line him up a load of pulev-Martin-Molina-takam-alikes for him to throw stiff one twos into and build his confidence enough to get him through to fight night…
