Well said Fury fears no man born from his mother. Like Fury would cut himself with a career high payday on the horizon. Come May you will see what a 6 foot 9 fighting man does to a midget boxer.

I don't by into the whole fake cut BS. I just think it is a real unfortunate situation for Usyk. As far as I'm concerned, Dec 23 should have been between Fury and Usyk, not Ngannou. But, let's hope nothing more happens to postpone the fight.

My memory is failing me on the exact details, but what was the reason Fury fought Ngannou and not Usyk?

Was it related to an Usky mandatory against Dubois?

I forget the exact reason it didn't happen then.

Well, Usyk did have a mandatory vs. Dubois in August, and in October Fury had a very-much-non-mandatory $$$ grab vs. Ngannou -- which he clearly had not prepped for seriously (Frank Warren so much as admitted so), foolishly assuming he could dispatch (or, for my UK friends here, despatch) Ngannou handily and still make the Dec. 23 paydate vs. Usyk. To Fury's credit, he was gentlemanly about Ngannou in defeat (er, victory), denying he'd taken Ngannou unseriously.

Yeah, Fury really did underestimate Francis...which was strange because despite the man's lack of boxing experience he's still a huge guy with punching power.

Someone, who I watch fights with, seemed to think it was just another/an example of Fury's decline as the ducking, rolling, backpedalling boxer and was actually proof of a less agile, mobile Fury who can no longer do all the feints and movement and is now left with an increasing dependence on simply standing and trading.

Would that be unfair, you think?

Always him though. Thats the problem with Fury. Cried wolf so much, he could be struck by lightning tomorrow and we suspect him of setting it up.

It's not a conspiracy but this fight should have happened years ago and the fact that it hasn't is 100% Fury's fault.

Well, Fury and his people argue that Usyk actually was first to delay things, even if only slightly, when they started talking shortly after Usyk's 2nd win over AJ. So maybe it's more accurate to say it's ultimately only 80% Fury's fault.... but in any case it's beyond accurate at this point to say it's largely Fury's fault.... and if he somehow manages to botch the May 18 date for any reason whatsoever, his credibility (and my patience with him, for one) will be utterly shot beyond repair.

The cut being real or not is a red herring for me. The cut obviously exists. The issue is how it came about.

Was blading involved? I find it unlikely (though you can never rule anything out with Fury sadly).

I suspect what has actually happened is closer to what Gareth A Davies initially reported. That it was a cut caused by a head clash, i.e. Fury was being reckless by sparring without a head guard a few weeks before the biggest fight in boxing.

I don't believe the footage that was released has anything to do with the cut. It looks more like they have released that to cover their asses; I imagine there would have been some fallout if the cut was caused as GAD reported it.

Now is that Fury's fault? Well, yes. Cuts happen, but why wouldn't you take precautions? Is that recklessness, or the actions of a man who whilst not trying to get cut, was happy not to prevent one, and thus get more preparation time to push the fight date back.

Reckless is indeed a good word for Fury's behavior. Reckless to fight a 270lbs block of granite -- with clearly little if any prep or even apparent regard for his formidable opponent -- a mere two months before arguably the fight of his life. Reckless to spar without head guard a couple of weeks before the rescheduled, crucially important fight. Reckless to play around with long-suffering fans' expectations and patience with a years-overdue belt unification.

As the old saying goes, "Take your work seriously but don't take yourself too seriously." Time to take your job seriously, Gypsy King. The show-biz bit will only take you so far.

Simon Jordan knows s**** about Boxing. He is also a huge Fury fanboy. And was licking Tyson and Warren *** till very lately, before they banned him, which was another PR action by them.

If Fury wanted it, the fight could have happen long, long time. After Usyk beat AJ for a second time. There is only one reason this fight hasn't happen yet, and that reason is Fury.
