Simon Kean born 1/11/1989 is a 6'5 Heavyweight with a 15-0 14 KO's record. Born in and fighting out of Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada. He originally studied judo as a teen, but decided to take up the sport of Boxing at the age of 15 after the tragic suicide of his father that he was incredibly close with. His amateur wasn't hugely successful, but he does hold a few notable wins in retrospect, his biggest amateur success was beating ony Yoka at the 2012 London Olympics where he was representing Canada. Sadly he was later eliminated by the brilliant Ivan Dychko, which isn't that big a deal. In my opinion he has the potential of being one of the best Heavyweights in the game, while he's not exemplary in any particular facet, he's a Jack Of All Trades, he's an incredibly solid all rounder. Most importantly he has a very strong, punishing piston like jab that he uses to great effect to set up his equally jarring right hand. He has a tremendous violently efficient left hook, fairly decent reflexes, a pretty solid defense and is fairly light on his feet and seems to have good stamina for a muscle bound massive dude. While he isn't what I'd call a Tyson-esque KO artist, he's very heavy handed, his punches are thudding and causes his opponents to keep their hands at home, similar to the type of firepower Canelo brings to the game. He fights well on the backfoot and he's decent coming forward. He's very focused in the ring, with a calm demeanor, his concentration is rarely broken, he's got pretty decent ring IQ and he's quite meticulous. Already I think he has the potential to be the banana peel for a couple of big names. I think he could hang with some Top 15 guys right now. He's a real sleeper that we all need to keep a really keen eye on. Check out the methodical Québécois Lumberjack in action. sorry, I'm not sold on this guy at all wide open and looks like a tko waiting to happen when he steps up
Yeah, I agree on the wide open part, a more technically sound fight could exploit that to great effect, but that's a fixable flaw, and Kean seems to be a fast learner.
heavyweight is the hardest division to know if someone is chinny. Kean does have some technical skills he was an Olympian and yes it was a Canadian Olympian, Canada does not get an automatic Olympian he had to beat other North Americans for his spot. I could see him making it into the top 10 at heavy, but he'll be blasted out by the top 5.
