Simple Question: how many of the first 10 did Regis win?

Very good point that often gets overlooked. Up close you get a better feel for the effect of blows received, which is an important consideration for scoring.

 

I've witnessed it many times tbh.
Another night i remember was Warrington v galahad. In the 1st rd Josh dodged a shot off kid, I know cos I was ringside and saw it from 15ft away, when I watched it at home, even Ronald mc, stated that it was a good landing shot from kid. But i clearly saw it it was a miss but on t.v it looked like it landed. Sort of what they do in the movies when someone throws a punch the actor positionsxhis body to make it look as tho it hit him. Now I know Warrington didn't do that but he lost a bit of balance as he stepped away from the punch. McIntosh and the rest of the viewers saw it as a landing shot. Another thing, that night you couldn't find Anyone in the arena who thought kid won. A lot of people had it close but no one thought kid knicked it.
I know people might say, "Ye but Warrington supporters arent going to say he lost but honestly, some of them would say it if they thought it. I remember the kiko fight, some in the arena thought kiko won it but no one said that at galahad fight.
When you caught up with the forums the next day, a lot of people had kid winning.

Now i havnt written this post to bring up the galahad scoring on the forums. My point is that, watching a fight live, especially close up, can be a different experience to watching on t.v (especially but not necessarily with commentry).
Scoring live fights can be different to watching on t.v.

 

Do you have your own opinion on the fight or are you going by what another person sees with their eyes?

Probsbly on Matchroom Italy cards....I have always said it only needs 1 judge to be bought off and its highly possible to rig a fight.....

if 2 judges have it close then the other judge having it so wide is fishy....

 

I thought the same.... Taylor won a lot ofr middle rounds and i thought Prograis needed a strong finish to get a draw,which he did...

2 judges were watchging the same fight as me

 

Just rewatched. Taylor undoubtedly won. Loads have said Prograis won 1-4 and 11-12, wrong. He maybe one 2 of the first 4, even they could have went to Taylor! Taylor won the 11th and Prograis the 12th

 

There should be 4 judges with the widest scorecard being discarded

 

My first chance to really break things down. I've watched the fight Three times now. I did NOT see the fight live, I followed RBR in here, BBC updates & Twitter. Some observations. All initial reviews of the fight suggested Prograis was out boxing or outclassing Taylor early. Having watched the fight each time with no commentary, I disagree. I thought Taylor's jab was on point throughout. He double/tripled it beautifully, including at the one range I normally criticise Josh at, mid-range.

Taylor has a tendency if not all in or all out to sit behind a high guard at mid-range and allow opponents to pepper his guard, so even if he defends well he loses exchanges if he doesn't counter back, I thought his jab meant his mid-range game or transition from mid to close was the best I've seen it. Regis jab was nice too but taking out compubox numbers & going with my own eyes, I thought Taylor used the jab and feet very intelligently, he fought a real high IQ fight.

I scored the first Four rounds 2-2. The first Four could have been 3-1 either way, looked slightly different each time I watched it. I gave Taylor 5,6 & 7. Regis round 8. Taylor 9 & 10. I scored 11 very close, and 12 close until Regis landed the telling shots that might have stunned Taylor. Giving Regis 11 and 12. I scored it to Taylor by Two rounds. But I could give Taylor 11, but not 12.

It was a great competitive fight, with very diverse opinions. Also, as Taylor injury was clash of heads (round 6/7) I felt that without the eye impacted so much, he would have closed show by winning championship rounds, those rounds were close blind of his right eye. Nobody can be sure he would have kept the momentum but as he was on a roll, I think it's fair to suggest Taylor would have won more clearly.

Taylor had no issue walking Regis down, out working & out fighting him inside as fight progressed and Taylor raised the intensity. It was a great fight, two genuine world class fighters and I'd love to see it again.

 

Saw it in a pub, with no sound, so unaffected by Smith & company. Made Taylor a close winner. Later watched Stevenson - Gonzalez, where Tim Bradley was commentating. He had seen the O2 fight earlier and had Taylor a good winner.

 

i had regis by 1 round. I am a bit confused how taylor won more than 7 rounds? A draw would of been something i think be acceptable, but the italian judge chickened out and gave Taylor the 12th round!!

 

Taylor by 2 for me. Good fight. Some close rounds.
Round 4 I thought Prograis had gone to another level but Taylor just ground him back down and landed some great shots as the fight went on. In the middle rounds he was getting clipped by janbs then bigger hooks and he could only manage the odd power shot in return. Prograis was never out of it but I though the fight was more where Josh wanted it rather than Regis.
At the final bell Prograis didn't look like man who had won - doesn't mean a lot but I think Taylors volume carried the day for him. Such a subjective fight that unless you have it 11 rounds to 1 you can probably make an argument for either winning.
