The Holmes who fought Tyson was far past his prime.

I don't know if Tyson would have beaten a prime Holmes.

83(65W,51KO,6L,11Draws,1NC) to 58(50W,44KO,6L,2NC). Dempsey only lost 1KO(atguably it's a fixed fights) to 5KO loses & 1 DQ? 6 title defense for 6years to 9defense for 5years. Dempsey best win are jack sharkey, luis angel firpo, fred fulton, jess willard, tommy gibbons. Who is tyson best win?

    dempson

Tyson brought more weapons to the ring physicaly but demps was better primed mentally. I cant see prime demps rolling over to Buster, he was too focused at that time.

demps had better longevity as a consequence.

Just to be contrary I will pick Dempsey and explain why.

Tyson was a product of Cus d'Amato. He was drilled to exhaustion to fight in a particular style which happened to suit his physique and temperament.

Dempsey on the other hand had to learn things the hard way and fuse together what worked and didn't work into his own particular brand of fighting. His book demonstrates behind his ring savagery there was a carefully calculated method of fighting and punching.

Without Cus, Tyson was still formidable, but far more limited. I don't think the same could be said about Dempsey.

However, if you are talking prime for prime, H2H ... yeah, I'd probably pick Tyson.

Dempsey fought to survive the mining and hobo camps of his youth...Tyson robbed old ladies in Brooklyn...Dempsey could take it...and Tyson couldn't.
