A great contest by both lads....you can ask no more when fighters give their all...I thought we got good exposure to the emotion and motivation in the Truscott corner...Marsden and Rhodes kept him at it.....

Great post from Billy about the sportmanship from Paul and his family.... we don't hear enought about that.. make sure that Claude includes that in BN next week Bill...:good

Simpson must be getting good sparring with Burns??...:think

A bit early to call fight of the season, but if that ain't... I can't wait to watch the one that is...:yep

So what's the plans for John now Billy - apart from a well earned rest? Another defence or wait for Lindsay?

Great fight, thought John fought well, Truscott deserves a mention as well, fought bravely! Would love to see Simpson V Lindsay next at the Kings Hall, would be a brilliant match up, personally think Lindsay would win it, but, I could make an argument for John as well!

Yeah, Billy you can tell that he worked very hard for this fight, Simpson looked like he still had plenty left in the tank at the end. I wonder what the punch count was per round, it was consistently very high until it got stopped. Look forward to the next one.:good

i dont think anybody domestically would stop john simpson his jaw is granite, martin is a very good fighter but not a big puncher imo, this would be a great fight for both boys i just think john's workrate and grit will win the day.

Super fight, epic heart from Truscott

Thought Simpson was in charge from perhaps the third but Truscott was so game it was untrue

My thoughts exactly. I have followed Simpsons career for years, & always knew just how tough he was. Sadly for me, Truscotts family got involved & took the hump with me cos I told everyone that Truscott was making a huge mistake by moaning his way to a rematch claiming the first fight was an injustice, but I was proven to be correct in the end. People took my repeated warnings about Truscotts folly in rematching Simpson as arrogant posting, but it wasnt. I just know my boxing, ESPECIALLY scottish boxing.
Credit to Truscott though, the guy had the heart of a lion & just kept coming back for more, & had some great moments in the fight that had me shitting my big scottish pants!
Truscott certainly had more about him than I gave him credit for, I underestimated the lad. I hold my hands up. Good luck to him in the future.

However, back to Simpson. Bring on Lindsay, thats what I preach. Belfast might have intimidated the young & inexperienced Appleby, but John Simpson? He will have those ******* Lindsey fans rioting when he stops their boy with those wicked lefts to the body.

    BRING IT ON!

I think the cuts made it a bit too one-sided to be a great fight but full credit to both boxers. Truscott showed unbelievable courage to keep coming back for more and respect to Simpson for making his first defence in the other fella's backyard.
