thats just part of boxing davidjay (cuts),john got a shocker on the top of his head against derry but had to get on with it,if you let it worry you your beat.
I appreciate that, but from the time the cuts opened up there was only going to be one winner, which in my opinion stopepd it from being a great fight. But it was still a storming battle and as I said earlier, both fighters are deserving of the ultimate respect.
It made it a better fight because Truscott knew he had to make the most of the time he had left and really dug in.
It was a great fight and I really enjoyed it, Simpson deserved to win. Truscott showed immense bravery though.
Well, i will post now as after the fight i was a bit "up"......i have chosen not to look at Saturdays posts I could go on and on and on and........... All i can say is, compared to the Appleby fight, it was like Night n Day...........was just remarkable. I aint seen ALL his fights in the past but i seen the big ones and the dodgy ones but Saturday was just immense. I aint checked any of the threads regarding the fight, as i says, best i dont see ma posts perhaps. Anyways, i will rewatch it tomorrow and what a great advert for British boxing considering we rarely even get FFN etc nowadays. Hats of to both men but working in Nelsons gym, has really made a BIG difference it seems. If it aint that then i dunno, Friday was BRILLIANT. Thanks to you all, made a few ppl up here very happy indeed :thumbsup
when a woman gets punched in the face, Lindseys fans hardly cover themselves in glory. Irish boxing fans have a great rep, but theres always an exception to the rule, & Lindsays fans are that exception. They were even on here gloating about how they shouted abuse & tried to intimidate Appleby at the weigh in, THATS why I call his fans assholes. You cant really argue that they arent, when they act like thugs. Can you?
Well done Billy Nelson, I know it was a team effort but Simmy looks like he has an added dimension now, thanks to kicking the booze into touch(not an easy thing to do, I should know) & of course working with your good self. Now I dont post as much around here anymore, but I have been reading your posts Billy Nelson. & I noticed that you said you & wee simmy would be happy for him to step back down to super-bantam, but Im not so sure this would be a good thing. Simmys in his late 20's now, & burning off the weight is only going to get tougher. I know its always a temptation to fight at a lower weight as in theory the fighter should carry the power down & make him a beast at a lesser weight, but in practice it never really works much. Usually the fighter just gets weakened trying to burn of that few pounds that came off so easily when they were in their teens-early 20's, but age is a ******* that creeps up faster than you think. I would hate to see Simpson jump back down to super-bantam only to see him become a lesser fighter due to battling the weight to gain a supposed advantage thats nullified by the fighter killing himself to make the weight.
your an arsehole friend...and you know nothing about boxing as you predicted appleby would destroy "feather fisted" lindsay...the more you predict in favour for simpson over lindsay....the more i know lindsay will win
Not bad at all, thanks for asking Gaz my good man:good It was a great fight, like I said before Truscott made a mistake rematching Simpson but he didnt half do himself proud. John Simpson is a right tough wee *******, & you should never rematch him, cos hes the most underrated fighter on these shores. I mean if it wasnt for a knockdown that never was against Applebey Simpson wouldnt have had the L, but thats boxing. John Simpson has done it the hard way like old school mexican fighters so far in his career, & the experience he has gained has just made him stronger. I think he can go all the way to world glory, but I would, wouldnt I Credit to Truscott though even if his family hates me on here cos I told them that Truscott was making a big mistake chasing a rematch... He had the heart of a lion & just kept coming back, until the fight was stopped I will be brutally honest & say I was never comfortable. I doff my cap to him & his bravery.
Even I am only flesh & blood at the end of the day, no-one is perfect. I made a mistake picking the scotsman to win, but only cos I didnt take into account Lindssays loutish lot. They overstepped the mark, intimidating a young lad before the fight, & attacking Applebeys fans on the night. I noticed you didnt try to defend Lindsays fans behaviour, probably cos you know it was wrong. Theres no defending it. Lets see if Lindsay has the balls to fight a man who wont be fazed by the loutish antics of Lindsays lot, & if he does, it will be I who is me who laughs last, as usual. You gotta remember, I been here before. as a scottish boxing fan I have to deal with more bad than good, its not as if I am constantly lording it over other posters. Quite the opposite in fact, Im always fighting Scotlands corner. & thanks for calling me an ******* & a friend in the same sentence, sums me up quite nicely that does:smoke
i called you friend because we are only talking boxing....i was at the ulster hall ...and you were not...so i am in a better position to talk about that night....although the crowd might have been hostile...appleby did not look fazed and confirmed that afterwards in the post fight interview....no one was attacked that night and certainly no woman was punched in the face...appleby lost to a better fighter in lindsay...face it and stop making silly excuses...you sound like a right numpty
