New British and Commonwealth featherweight champion Lee Selby has told WBN that he is already being lined up to defend his titles only five days after winning the belts.

“My first defence looks like being John Simpson on November the 18th at the York Hall,” Selby explained to WBN.

The 24 year-old claimed the title with a stunning knockout win over Liverpool’s Stephen Smith last Saturday night and has been rewarded with a tough defence against the rugged Scot, who twice took Smith the twelve rounds in the past year, losing both decisions that could have gone either way.

Selby, from Barry in Wales, has a deceiving record which his family and friends took full advantage of against Smith, backing him at 100/1 with the bookies to knock out the home fighter and Selby admits he held back his punches in previous fights but will refrain now he is the champion.

“I've been boxing on small shows padding my record to keep my KO percentage down and only really letting them go when it matters,” said Selby.

“The three title fights I've had I've let my power show and I've knocked them all out, but now I'm champion I will not hold back on my punches and it will take someone exceptional to beat me.
