They should resort to the 'no contest' rule - it certainly wasn't deliberate by any means. OK - you can get guys quitting (Zab vs Clottey) and taking a calculated gamble, but still.
truscott was unlucky but his lack of power worries me,he was out boxin simpson tho! i had him 2 up at the time of stoppage tho simpson wis comin back! its a shame bout the head clash! it wis warmin up!
this hw fight is a bit dull. anyone else on the undercard worth staying up for? don't want to look at boxrec as i'll see the results
That was a really good fight, I actually had Simpson ahead on points at the end of the fight. Simpson set a very fast pace from the outset, & was the one landing the heavier blows throughout. The commentators were pretty harsh on Simpson IMO, there was one round in particular(cant remember which one) where I felt Simpson won it clearly, & Watt said "Truscotts round" No doubt about it, the commentators wanted Truscott to win that fight, as he was the young unbeaten prospect with a big following. Nobody enjoys seeing fights end like that, but i did think Simpson was going to get the stoppage as he was coming on strong.:bbb Truscott came across like a great guy in the post fight interview as when Truscotts fans were heckling Simpson at ringside, Paul shouted to them "Can I just say everyone, give John the respect the deserves man, he won" A rematch will surely happen, & i know I will be buying a ticket if its in Glasgow:deal
This really just highlights the absolute bull**** of this rule. How the **** can you lose a fight on a headbutt? It implies the use of the head is a legal punch. Horse tripe, Truscott had built up a nice little lead on my scorecard. Had he not been cut and robbed of his belt, it would have been a hard fought scrap towards the end there.
With this rule they are almost making headbutts illegal. To be fair to Simmo, he said he wanted a return,
I only gave Simpson 2 rounds in there. Truscott seemed to be losing the plot, but you can't say how much that is due to the cut. Got to be a rematch, its criminal you can be robbed of a belt and get a KO loss on your record for that epic bull****.
Can i just say, i'm Paul's father,i think the referee took the right decision, whether it was a clash of heads or not, i spoke to J ohn Simpson in his changing room after the fight{and what a nice man he is by the way} i congratulated him,and asked him if HE thought he was winning,he said, and i quote{this is easily verified} i know i was losing EASILY,but i think i may have got him late on,our Paul said, no way was he getting me later,i was holding back a bit ,Can i just add, Paul says J ohn is a really good lad{i can verify that} John said{again easily verified P aul is the BEST fighter he has fought, this come from his mouth, any one who knows him can ask.
do you think we`ll see a rematch? i had paul up by two at the time of the stoppage! C`MON THE SMOGGIES!!!!(only jokin ,ahm a rangers fan but ma family r geordies) 2 b honest ahv got durham blood & proud of it!!
The rule is bad,but to be honest,Paul had a really bad cut,for me,the ref got it right,Pauls a bit disapointed at the moment{understanderbly}he honestly thinks he would have beat John, hopefully,he will have his chance in the future, can i just add, well done John Simpson, hes a really good genuine fella.
Yeah from the sounds of it i agree withthe fight being stopped, but not the rule of the uninjured fighter winning.
