Shame. Underrated contender, definitely should have challenged for a belt at some point. Probably could have done better with a better lifestyle as well. While he did do this to himself, it's a bit harsh not feeling any sympathy and saving he deserved this. RIP
He had a kind face too. Had that big cuddly bear look about him. http://imgur.com/zsoqcl0 Just saw some pictures of him in the hospital bed and he looked like he was suffering. Upsetting to see. :-(
If he could just go back to 270-280 lbs he could've got a liver transplant from his sister 3 years ago. Just sad :-(
It really is. I actually genuinely feel upset about this. Of all the boxer/boxing related deaths I've found this one, Emanuel Steward's, and Roman Simakov's the most upsetting. Like I said, he had that big harmless cuddly bear look about him and seeing those pictures of him in the hospital bed was horrible. I always enjoyed listening to Steward's knowledge and wisdom about boxing, watching or reading his interviews or doing the commentary on HBO and his passing happened so quickly. I remember hearing that he was seriously ill but the next thing I knew he was gone and I'd been hoping and expecting he was going to pull through. The Simikov tragedy was especially upsetting because I watched the fight live on a stream. It's one thing hearing about a ring tragedy, but it hits a hell of a lot harder if you've actually watched the fight where it occurred live.
