I am curious if he would try and do something underhanded where he drains Hopkins to 164 or worse. But I do think Golovkin is a gentleman and a good sport, and I will give him the benefit of the doubt, and assume if such a fight comes to fruition, that Gennady himself would insist on 170.

Interestingly though, aside from these dullards who believe Golovkin hits harder than Kovalev... :rofl

I'm apparently the only one who thinks Hopkins would have a great chance against GGG at 170. Golovkin fans are acting as if Hopkins is a typical senior citizen, which is actually a worse look for Golovkin should the fight happen.

I'm thinking since we know Canelo, BJS, Jacobs, etc probably aren't likely to face GGG after his lackluster affair with Wade, that GBP may have a master plan after all.

Make GGG an offer he cannot refuse to face Hopkins at 170 with the promise that "This time, we really really swear - Canelo will be next, and we'll even go 160" in the hopes that Old Man Hopkins has one last upset up his sleeve, which would all but eliminate the need for cash cow Canelo to need to face Gennady.

    It's absolute INSANITY!!

Not all Golovkin fans believe that, of course. Some of them have working eyes, and understand that Kovalev hits much harder, even if they believe Golovkin is more talented.

I'll respectfully disagree with those who think Golovkin is more talented.

But for these nut jobs that think Golovkin actually hits harder than Kovalev - I can only say I'm jealous, and I wish they'd share their drug stash with me!

Rumsfeld, I respect your opinion but.. Golovkin > Kovalev. I say this as a huge Kovalev fan. I'll admit it's extremely hard to even compare them though. Other than being knockout artists they are completely different fighter stylistically. While Kovalev has quicker in and out footspeed, more devastating power, and a much stronger jab he needs more than that to compete with Golovkins skill set imo. Kovalev has a great jab but I don't think it's better than Golovkins at all. You have to remember that Golovkins jab, more often than not, is combined with the parry and used to counter the opponents jab while cutting off the ring. Golovkins timing and ability to set up combinations with the jab is extraordinary. While Kovalev actually has knockout power with his jab, Golovkin uses his jab to open guards which is the key to his knockout power. Golovkin puts hard accurate shots on opponents when they're on the ropes and most TKO's are because they don't see the shots coming. Golovkin has a greater punch selection than Kovalev does and utilizes both left and right hands equally effectively. Golovkins slower footwork is also the result of using it completely differently. While Kovalev goes in and out quickly upsetting the balance of his opponent, Golvokin prefers to keep himself on perfect balance at every second of the fight. This allows him to maintain his power going forward or backwards while shifting and reduces his chance at getting hurt.

That being said, I agree that Bhop has a much better chance in a fight with GGG than people are giving credit for.

Hopkins gains minimal advantage from changing weight, he is better off training his way into 160, he used to over-train down to 157 by error.

Hopkins regaining the 160 throne will immediately get him a GOAT nomination. A cw fight will just destroy the value of the fight, Seeing Hopkins back at 160, with Jermain Taylor safely locked up :smoke

You need to spend some time inside the ropes if you think a guy automatically hits harder because he weighs 15lbs more. Using your moronic logic, fat albert could throw a fast ball 300mph because he weighs three times as much as Nolan Ryan.

I believe GGG would try to get Bernard in the ring UNDER 168 even. I think BHOP does have a chance at 170+. Golovkin does not hit as hard as Kovalev and he sure as hell isn't as skilled as Kovalev even though Little Duck fans believe the opposite. I would certainly give an old crafty BHOP a chance against a guy I've never seen against top competition. Even the Bernard from a couple years ago puts a schooling on Triple G. Imagine derailing another younger undefeated champion in his finale! :yep

Bernard has no chance at any weight, even if contracted at 190. He's shot, washed-up, and will be rusty and weight-drained as well.

He did absoulutely nothing against Kovalev, landed about 2 hard punches. He needs to just go home.

Kovalev would knock guys like Martin Murray and Lemiuex COLD, not take 11 rounds to stop them on their feet. If you can't grasp something as obvious as that, theres no help for you. This is basic level stuff.

A boxing match is not a KO contest, the object of the fight isn't to KO an opponent as fast as possible.

Darnell Boone who has sparred Gennady and fought Kovalev says Gennady certainly hits harder than Kovalev. why do you guys continue to believe yourselves, when you haven't taken a punch from either?
