Wont he be rusty by the time it comes around to fighting Cotto? I dont want that to be used as an excuse when Cotto kicks his ass.

You honestly believe Floyd will take 1-2 years off?

As long as Cotto is in town, why not? Thats one way to preserve the "0" in his loss column.

Mayweather's 1-2 year layoff, along with his MMA plans, is just another promotional ploy.

If he takes more than twelve months off and comes back to perform against a very active campaigner, nobody can tell it won't affect him. Fighting is so interconnected with instict and short memory that long time interruptions can only make a fighter apply deficiently his intelectual resources... And everybody can check about it January the 19th in NYC. Sugar Ray was called the miracle man of boxing for some reason when he came back in 1987 against Hagler - of course, miracles are not supposed to happen as OFTEN.

I'm glad somebody else can see this besides me :D Mayweather has become good at promoting, I look for a Mayweather vs Cotto fight to be made in Nov or Dec. Cotto has to stay underfeated though to make this happen.
