Since Pulev struggled past Thompson, I've never seen his name mentioned again!!

I don't know what wrong you find in Pulev. Does he talk much like Fury, Haye. Has he fought decent fighters or hi only fights superheroes like Wilder's opponents ? Has he postponed any fight because stupid injury or lack of money? Did Adamek, Fury, Haye etc. refuse to fight him?
He is not even black dude:patsch

    Blimey!

I'll have to watch what I say on here

Absolutely I thought Thompson would win. I don't like Pulev's style.

That said from watching the fight - I appreciated his abilities and he is going to be VERY tough to defeat in all honesty :good

My point I was trying to make was, he was constantly being mentioned on this and other forums prior to the Thompson fight. He wins - but his name has never cropped up since :huh

A lot of fighters between fights have plenty of threads made about them ... Pulev literally dropped off the radar. What happened to all his supporters?

I wanted to know why they were no longer vocal in their support despite his win?

I was guessing it was because they felt he wasn't as good as they hoped he would be.

Genuinely wanted to know! As ironically, whilst as unexciting as you can get ... I now feel that he could well be a champion after the Klitschkos retire. Just one who never knocks anyone out.

SO every day you read about Wilder's next opponent or a Fury's pusymouth. Wow that makes them so great.
Plus don't forget he is neither american, nor brit.

You may notice that Pulev is usually talked about prior to his fights and shortly after that. That's because he doesn't have much of a fanbase. He also rarely gives interviews and even more rarely talks about other boxers or calling them out. He's not one of those loud mouths like Haye and Fury who are ready to talk anything just to get publicity. He just does his job.

And his fight against Thompson went exactly like most people expected. He was rusty and once he adapted to Tony's style, it was a routine win.

Thompson is a top heavyweight and Pulev beat him. Pulev is the biggest threat to Wladimir. Lets see if he gets the fight.

You're right, those early rounds were close.

John Rawling hates mainland European boxers and was going on as if Thompson dominated those early rounds. I sent a message about it to Sauerland after the fight (Kalle replied). They have a contract with BoxNation and it isn't right that a BoxNation commentator constantly ridicules and discredits their fighters.

He simply doesn't mouth off and create artificial noise around himself. People talk about him when he fights(before and after the fights). He's a fighter, not a media star. What do you want us to talk about him? Everything is clear around him, there's no uncertainty and at the same time there are no news around him. He's the mandatory for Wlad and he's waiting his turn for a title shot. Unless he takes an easy tune up fight, there won't be much around him happening until that Wlad fight. His style of fighting doesn't inspire rampant fanboy-ism(which is not really a negative in my books, I can't stand the constant "Oh but what do you think of Golovkin's power?" that's rampant on those boards and youtube). At the same time he has his small group of followers who appreciate his boxing skills and like to talk about it when those are on display(when he actually fights), unlike other hyped up boxers whose fanboys showoff daily their desperate need to elevate their sense of self-worth through vicarious glorification of their wet-dreams superstar...

Or do you want us to start threads every week like "Pulev will KO Wilder in 1.", "Pulev will school Fury in 3", "Pulev will end the Klitchko"? What's the point?

The point is those were EXACTLY the kind of threads that WERE filling the boxing forums until his fight with Thompson concluded

I can do the math myself now and realise what happened :good

Pulev has a tiny, genuine fanbase that appreciates his tedious, but excellent skillset and jaw ... The rest (the majority) who have disappeared thought he was an entirely different type of fighter altogether, watched his fight with Thompson and realised the product wasn't for them.

He wasn't exposed as such, he fought exactly as expected.

It was just that the vocal majority who were creating threads regarding him were exposed to the fighter he has always been, rather than the boxer they hoped for.

    If that makes sense?

Sir, you were the one picking Thompson to knock him out and now you call his "fanbase", which already seemed quite realistic back then, we had never seen threads like "Pulev will ko B*tchko", exposed.
