Has anyone else noticed how much incredible power Eastern Euros can generate? It's just crazy.

They have completely taken over the higher weight classes in boxing. And these guys are absolute bangers.

Yeah, but now that we know that the EE's may have been posssibly cheating for the last 26 years, they mind as well flush those Gold medals down the drain. Many of them didn't even become champions, and many turned pro.

How did you like Tripple G hanging out on the Cowboys sidelines wearing his personalized Cowboys jersey given to him by Jerry Jones?? Pretty damned sweet, eh??

The Olympics are important. But nine out of 10 guys don't become top pros - like someone mentioned earlier tonight.

Hell, of ALL the Olympic heavyweight gold medal winners, ALL of them, only Frazier and Foreman won the heavyweight championship.

    That's it.

Chakhiev, Tillman, Odlanier Solis, Mercer, Rademacher, Ed Sanders, Franco DiPicolli ... and everyone pre-World War II.

Just Frazier and Foreman. THE LAST OLYMPIC HEAVYWEIGHT GOLD MEDALIST to become world heavyweight champion won the gold in 1968!!!!

Many of the guys Emanuel Steward mentions in that article, like Paul Gonzales, Ricky Womack, Howard Davis, Tyrell Biggs ... they were disasters as pros. And most - like Frank Tate, Leo Randolph and Mark Breland - were briefly paper champs.

Some newer fans to the sport seem to fall into the trap of "Well, these guys were the best in the world as amateurs so they'll be the best in the world as pros."

    Some do. MOST don't.

:patsch Drug testing was horrid prior to the 1990's, so everyone at THAT point was doped to the gills. After the 90's, doping control became much more effective, but so were the ones trying to cheat the system. All American boxers prior to 1995 were most likely DOPED to the gills, considering the poor and or non-existent drug testing present. So for you to say that Eastern Europeans were cheating is really comical. Also notice how bigoted and idiotic you are by calling all EE's Russian, goes to show you how easily I can distinguish which demographic I am responding to by reading the texts :-( Considering how poor American boxers are with drug tests, everyone of your heroes after 1990 were doped to the gills most likely :bbb:bbb

Dude, it's much more easier than learning the names of all those countries. There's got to be what, like 4 of them?

The OP is very misleading. Cuba doesn't come in 2nd place in gold medals; they're first with a bullet.

****ogous to Eastern Europe would be "the Caribbean".

That's how these things work. There's a lot of countries out there and spelling is hard.

For the next Olympics, we're going to simplify the whole affair by reducing the teams to the following:

    Eastern Europe

    Europe

    The Hood

Japan, which shall include the entirety of Asia

Mexico, which shall include all countries in South and Central America

    Cuba

    Africa

    And so forth.
