That was Joyce in his prime, which does mean something, even if it's not real pro.
People seem to think prime for Joyce is when he was middle-age and still fighting journeymen.
That's why it was so funny they protected him so long and everyone said 'we all age differently' and 'his prime is just older than normal' and so forth, while he's heading towards 40. Just hilarious stuff. Then he got smashed up by someone even older, so now he's basically done, with chin cracked and no time to rebuild.
