Since When Did Bums/Marketing Hype Jobs Cause So Much Fear in the Opposition?

I would imagine that most boxers would relish the chance to put a stop to the hype of one of the biggest names in boxing, but let's see how fighters and people have reacted to Bumlovkin, a guy who is "old" and apparently hasn't done **** in the game...

Lou DiBella responded with venom and rage whenever anyone so much as mentioned the idea of his then prized fighter Sergio Martinez facing Bumlovkin.

Peter Quillin dumped his belt and passed on a career high pay day and went life and death with Bumlovkin leftover Rosado.

Billie Joe Saunders, current beltholder, passes up a career high pay day to fight Bumlovkin, but at least he's honest in saying he isn't ready to face the hype job from Kazakhstan.

Canelo Alvarez, the Lineal Middleweight Champion, has stated emphatically that he will not defend his middleweight title against Bumlovkin at 160.

Carl Froch, boxing's toughest tough man, chose retirement over facing Bumlovkin.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., who's probably a cruiserweight on fight night, turned down a high profile showdown with Bumlovkin.

So how many hype jobs in the history of the sport, especially ones nearing 35 years of age, has instilled so much fear and desperate reactions in the game?

That's the big fluorescent elephant standing in the middle of the room here.

Some even openly support other fighters ducking him and then blame Golovkin for not having fought them. :nut

Depends how you define 'ducking' I guess. Couldn't really simultaneously pursue Ward and the Lineal MW champ for a mega-fight. It was one or the other. I would have prefered the Ward fight myself, but if you criticise GGG for that the list of fighters you'd have to apply the 'ducking' appellation to is long indeed.

The only fear factor that I connect with GGG is him fighting yet another fringe opponent….I actually like the guy but I can't support him at the moment and I won't blame exterior factors. If he wants glory he would have already went for it, either his team of advisors needs to be washed away or he needs to grow some ***** and find someone to support the hype. I won't insult the man because he is quite talented and a breath of fresh air but its wasting away and all the foregone conclusions his that his most adament fans attempt to overwhelm the boxing world with and convince us he's the greatest thing since slice bread need to wake up and push him. The real irony that exists here is I find that his staunchest supporters love to downplay Floyd's career lololol…..at 34 years of age what did Floyd accomplish…hmmmm.

He had ducked Pacquiao by that point, his career defining accomplishment.

chavez would have taken fight...but had a dispute with arum over future money(this is similar to floyd having a dispute over future money before he left arum and left the margarito fight on the table...had bob guaranteed floyd another measley 2 mil apiece for future fights against hatton and cotto floyd would have fought him)

froch is a 38 year old retired warrior who decided not to fight again

canelo is still moving up and took a belt that has been defended at a cw 3x in a row now...he is still not comfortable at full 160...he has moved up from welter to jr middle and trying to make the move...if he werent standing in teh way of ggg having that belt most of you would be understanding towards his plight

sergio was an old and near finished fighter looking for a cashout fight so he took cotto instead

quillin is a b level fighter....saunders is as well

and last but not least..ggg ducked andre ward like a fgt
