    ^^

Oh get off of Macklin's nuts, pal.

Whoever said that he was just a "Law Student" before the whole Irish angle, is spot on.

He hasn't even got a big following in Brum, fact.

So he plays Hurling very well, so what? He's gotta be Irish hasn't he? Sigh...

If you want to excuse total ignorance by accusing me of riding "Macklins nuts" then fair enough.

However, funnily enough I didnt see many "Since when did Chisora become British" thread when he was slapping world champions and generally making a **** of himself out in Germany, whilst drapped in the UJ! :deal

As for Macklin appropriating his Irishness after becoming a pro, well that smacks of the ignorance that I alluded to above, and you do have a record have being a whalloper as well so I couldnt give a **** what you say! :good

It shouldnt make much of a difference, but it does to some people, even on a boxing forum of all places, can you imagine what would have kicked off in this thread had Macklin actually beaten Martinez. 30 plus pages would be my prediction:yep

    This is true.

It's where a lot of British people here can be a bit hypocritical. Chisora is less ''British'' than Macklin is Irish, yet he was embraced a lot of British people about being ''great'' for ''British boxing'', how it was great to see a ''British'' fighter putting in that kind of performance.

As I say, I don't care really. You should like a fighter as a fighter, and not solely for whatever nation he represents. But if you are like that, at least be consistent with it and don't chastise one dude when you're praising another dude for being even worse with it.

To be fair Pab and Slap, there was a fair few patriotic englishmen saying Chisora needs to be deported.

Indeed but its human nature to support your local fighter or club as well, its in our DNA.

Hence the reason Jeffries sells tickets to Mackem, Barker to cockankneees etc etc

I know, I would never pidgeon-hole an entire nation to one opinion. I'm merely pointing out what I've seen on ESB recently.

I'm of the opinion that nobody should give a fizzuck where somebody is from or where a fighter chooses to represent anyways, but there's a few people who are quite hypocritical when it comes to issues like this, which is all I'm pointing out.
