I still don't consider the WBO a major belt.

What makes you consider a belt to be major? Do you consider the IBO a major belt?

No IMO it's on the same level as the WBO. The big 3 are WBC, WBA and IBF the next level would be WBO, IBO then belts like WBF, NABF and others.

But what makes you consider the WBC, WBA and IBF as major, and does major mean better?

wbo sucks, but it still has a bit of credability. They might not have the strongest champs, but their still good fighters most of the time (just not elite)

    IBO just plain sucks IMO.

it actually followed it its rules it allows the champ to be decided by #1 fighting 3# if #2 wont fight #1 for some reason. My problem with the ring belt is its not recognised well globaly and lack of mandos. But compared to the other idiots the rings the best

The WBA are oldest, WBC 1962 I think, IBF in the 80's, WBO a bit later, I agree where you are coming from but I don't think you can use that answer then include the IBF and not the WBO. I accept we are 5th at the moment but I think in time we will get the respect, mainly because we try to do everything that is good for boxing. In many ways 2 organisations is one too many, but with 5 organisations it means there are actually more great fights as champions come together far more than they did 10 years ago.

That's not what the Ring's rules say at all, nor is it established precedent.

In all honesty, all of these belts have become a joke. They've all abused their power, and have made numerous dubious moves that has destroyed their credibility. The rankings are clearly rigged many times. The defense policies of all of them are inconsistent and sometimes confusing. I mean the WBC basically has their rules written in a manner where they can just make it up as they go along. How can we say the WBC isn't a joke when they simply made up a catchweight belt? How can the WBA not be a joke when they have up to 3 champs in one division? Even the Ring belt is a joke in my opinion. Most of the divsions don't even have a Ring champ, and their rules make it easy for a champ to sit on his title. Everyone has a title these days. It's ridiculous.

I thought you were describing the IBF there for one moment!

Wlad, Pac, Barrera, Pavlik etc WBO champs.

Belts are there for the casual fans and a way to build up a fighter. The Ring / Linear means far more.
