Your gonna compare a reality tv show contestant like Gomez to Baldomir, who hadnt lost a fight in 8 years and beat the guy who beat the guy who beat the guy who beat the guy. :nut Nice logic there. Baldomir is the same level as Gomez who had 3 losses on his record already in 12 fights. Boy are you brilliant. Bet you got loads of gold stars in elementary.

Great post! I would add that De La Hoya had an easier time with Mosley than Cotto did.

So you agree Cotto hasnt done anything to earn a shot up until Floyds last fight. Lets not forget Cotto was trying to get Delahoya and not Floyd for his next fight so he isnt trying to make a fight

Floyd hasnt done anything at 147? Just beaten the last 2 Linear and Ring Belt Magazing Belt holders back to back, beat Delahoya maybe the best Welterweight of the 90s, and Hatton Ring/Linear 140lb Champion.

The only reason Hatton, Baldomir and Delahoya are not in that top10 list is because they are not currently in the division.

Delahoya is leagues above Cotto althoug he wasnt prime. Corrales at 130 was where Cotto is now pretty much, as was Castillo at 135. Hatton has achieved more than Cotto by beating Tyszu.

FACT: Cotto was only a prospect up until his Judah fight :deal

BTW I want this fight to happen

I don't care about anything Floyd has done outside of 147lbs. It does not matter in terms of the 147lb scene and a future fight with Cotto.

    As far as 147lbs goes:

Floyd has beaten Mitchel Baldomir Judah Hatton. The only relevant fighter in this list today at 147lbs is Judah.

Cotto has beaten Quintana Urkal Judah Mosley Gomez and Margarito if he beats him.

Quintana Judah Mosley and Margarito are relevant to the 147lbs scene today. And this is just as impressive if not more impressive than the opposition that Floyd has faced at 147lbs.

Cotto is the only significant fight for Floyd at 147lbs, If he doesn't think so then why not move to another division? Because if Cotto beats Margarito he is THE MAN at 147lbs.

In all this fight will happen. So i don't care about arguing about the fight itself. What I care about arguing is Cotto's quality of opposition and he is the only fighter DESERVING a fight with floyd. End of.

BULL**** Hattons resume pre-November 2007 was far superior to Cottos, thats FACT. Mayweather has beat 3 Welterweight Ring/Linear World Champions, Cotto has beat 1, Mayweather has beat 4 Welterweight Champs in total

The Man = The Man who Beat the Man = Mayweather, so Cotto can never be the man unless Mayweather retires or he does the impossible and beats Mayweather (and he hasnt got a chance in the actual match up, far too flat footed with a poor defence)

We both want the fight to happen and it will happen, probably in 12-18months, Cottos earned his shot already, but these fights take time to turn into super fights, Leonard made Hagler wait for 4 years)

Cotto's earned his shot, but Floyd is marketing for the biggest $$$$'s for Floyd, nd it makes business sense. By doing this Floyd has exceeded the old quote now being, "2 in the hand is better than 1 in the bush". Why in the world wouln't he get two mega $$$$$ fights, the first being relatively low risk with Oscar and then fight Cotto for bigger $$$$$$'s than if he fought Cotto now? Even if Margarito beats Cotto, Floyd will still have the Oscar $$$$$$'s and get a very large pay day for Marg.

The guy I don't understand is Cotto. He's going up against a very dangerous Margarito for a lot less $$$'s than if he fought Floyd next. Yet he barely says anything, about Floyd. From a business stand point he should be calling out Floyd lound and clear right now and get that fight as soon as possible. Something tells me Arum is behind Cotto's relatiive silence. Are'nt Cotto and Margarito both Arum's boys????

It became the biggest fight and everyone talked about it since Mayweather beat Hatton and Cotto won the fight with Mosley. Just 6 months.

It'll be great to see ESB once Cotto wins and does so very convincingly.

Mosley is better then De La Hoya? I don't think so, apart from De La Hoya (with the 2nd fight being pretty disputed) who else is on his resume? Theres Collazo, Holiday and Vargas, Thats about it. He has losses to Forrest and Wright twice.

De La Hoya has a win over Whitaker (which trumps anything Mosley has done), plus a win over a faded Chavez, Quartey, Hernandez, Ruelas, Leija, and a much better Vargas. Also throw in a close, very disputed loss to Trinidad and its clear who the better fighter despite the results of when they met.
