"He just had the wrong skin color, the wrong promoter, and came from the wrong part of the world as far as American hardcore fans (who dubbed him “Cal-Slappy” were concerned. Had Joe been an African American who fought his career on HBO he would have been in everybody’s pound-for-pound top five and fools would argue that he deserves “all-time great” status." by Doug Fischer Nothing but the real truth! :good 46–0 ; best victories against Hopkins, RJJ, the refs and the judges in USA, prime Kessler, Eubank and Lacy ! Very well done Sir Joseph William Calzaghe ! :hat
Very under rated. If joe was American some American fans would give him more credit for beating Hopkins and Jones
Yanks called Joe Cal-Slappy? God knows what Joe would have done to Lacy if he had punched instead of slapping him.
If Hopkins fights Stevenson and beats him then he becomes the oldest undisputed LHW champion in the history of boxing and also Calzaghe's best win.
The ghost of Roy was even shot and Hop arguably won. I don't think people underrate JC, it's just that he isn't on the same level as BHOP, Roy or Toney. Even still, Calzaghe was a solid fighter.
it's incredibly irresponsible of you to even think that skin color had anything to do with calzaghe's career path but you are spot on about the promoter after saying that, calzaghe chose to stay with him until he decided to fight Hopkins and jones when he did amir khan and ricky hatton's "skin color" didn't mean a thing because they chose to leave war+en, make their name in the US, and look at the fights they got...
Sensational thread. Because Joe Calzaghe was not a black American, not showcased on HBO or Showtime and ducked for years by the likes of Hopkins, Jones Jr and Toney teams as seeing "too big a risk, too little reward" (yes, unlike you guillable brainwashed fans people within boxing knew Joe was the absolute truth), the vast majority of fans thought that Jeff Lacy would beat him, whereas anyone who watched Joe fight knew Lacy was being led to the slaughter. FORTY SIX AND ZERO!!! Deal with it haters. :deal
Doug Fisher is a DICK. The guy was to lose against Bernard but since he came on a high-high against Kessler and Bernard lost his breath in the end stretch, he is still talkin about it and about that idiotic one-sided win against Roy. Calzaghe can be everything he wants to be but he didn't give Bernard a rematch so let them call him Sir or Your Highness, he will never be a Living LEGEND and time is showing us that, another american who is undefeated and almost p4p best is beating the **** out of everybody and Bernard is tryin to become a 2nd Division Undisputed Champion. Where is Joe Calzaghe now?
Guys like you, and posts like that are the reason those haters exist. When are you gonna figure that out?
:good and he knows it this guy works nights, has no girlfriend (both by his own admission), and looks for attention online to try and compensate for a lack of self-esteem
Please, I don't hate Mayweather because he schooled Hatton and his fans witter on about it and say he is the best ever. I deal with his 46-0, and applaud the man, something evidently the likes of you have a great deal of difficulty dealing with when it comes to Calzaghe.
