Still it may surprise some to learn that over two fights only a few points separated em,still can’t bring myself to watch the second fight lol as I was holiday at the time.
He's only saying that in order to make the third fight much more appealing to the fans & promotors. Everyone knows Ward should have been DQ'd in the second fight. - Just as everyone KNOWS that Kovalev won the first fight.
No trilogy for a 2-0 score. Trilogies are only for 1-1 tied to settle final battle. Particularly when he lost TKO the second time. Kovalev is looking like a mad dog, nothing else...
What would be the point. In the first fight Kovalev started off good, but Ward adapted and went to Kovalev's body and Kovalev badly faded, which is why Kovalev lost. In the second fight Ward completely outclassed Kovalev. Kovalev proved in both fights that he's a good athlete, but very one dimensional. Ward took away Kovalev's jab and kept attacking his body, which Kovalev had no answer. In a third fight Ward toys with Kovalev even more than he did in the 2nd fight.
To be honest, I didn't see much separating the two in the fights. Pretty even. Kov won the first for sure. The second is dubious with all those low blows.
I had Ward winning the first fight, the second he should have been DQ'ed only sport in the world where a foul wins you the championship.
