Benn was awful in that fight, reminded me of Honeyghan v Starling, an amatuer v a pro except Starling was fighting better than Watson did on the respective occasions.
Some killer shouts so far. Carbajal-González I is a favorite of mine but it went 7 so it just missed out. But I got a couple more good ones... Gatti-Rodriguez Gatti-Ruelas Caveman Lee-John LoCicero Meza-Garza Mancini-Frias Márquez-Pacquiao IV
Loving this thread. Been youtubing most of today watching some of these shorter classics. Keep 'em coming.
Greatest short fights in boxing history (6 rounds or less) This is not an exhaustive or authorative list by any stretch of the imagination but a starting point to try and pull something like it together. I've included fights that were two-way fights rather than one-sided, great performances that were short fights. So, Louis-Schmeling 2, Dempsey-Willard etc, as memorable as they are, have not been included. Some of these fights were still relatively one sided but they all include a strong element of jeopardy for the eventual winner so that's how I've managed to include the more one-sided of these two-way battles. I've also included a few one rounders. It's arguable that these are "great fights", maybe just great rounds but any fight that has two way action, even in a single round is fair for inclusion in my view. The list as it stands is heavily weighted towards the 80s up to the present so more suggestions to the list are very welcome, especially if they are pre-1980!
