Interesting case of style v style, era v era and record v record. Many would rank Escobar above Canizales in terms of greatness. Head-to-head might be a different story... or might it not. Where do you come out?
Really? No thoughts on this bantam super-match? No one wants to excuse Escobar's record by acknowledging the great wins he did have? No one thinks that perhaps Canizales is a bit under-rated, is a great technician with good power who would take this one? No one cares about bantams?
OK, what if Vitali Klitschko is involved? Seriously, none of you feel well-enough versed in the lower weights to comment on this match-up? Does this board need to be renamed the "Classic Marciano/Johnson/Louis versus Either Klitschko Board"? It is embarrassing to the collective and supposed knowledge of this forum that noone can even conjure a remark on this hypothetical match-up. Moreso, it confirms my darkest suspicions regarding said forum.
Including yourself. Perhaps it would be easier to analyse this match-up if there was any available footage of Escobar to go by.
Well, it's going the distance, since Escobar was never down, and Canizales was never stopped. I'll assume that Canizales would be the aggressor (he generally was at bantam), and Sixto the counterpuncher in ths bout, and that it quite likely be pretty cloesly contested. I think Canizales probably takes it by landed harder, cleaner shots, even if Escobar were to land more. Canizales UD 15 There...does that alleviate your concerns about this board?
I think Escobar would put in enough work when Canizales was having his lapses in putting together punches that he could take a decision. But its hard to tell since I haven't seen him on film.
