I keep reading that Pavlik is bigger boned, and so much larger then Taylor. i have to call bull****, at the weigh in stare down, hes maybe an inch taller, but probably a little less, and Jermain is twice as thick, wider shoulders and everything. ive looked at other pics, same things. thoughts?
I don't know where Pavlik's weight is but it aint in his upper body. Maybe Pavlik has bigger legs and hips.
pavlik is bigger. the only area taylor is bigger is in the shoulders. pavlik has longer reach. taller, and heavyweight sized fist apparently. also if you look at their waist lines, taylor is narrow while pavlik has a more solid "core". pavlik's neck and head are also bigger. so all that combined with the 1 inch height advantage (pav is 6'2 and taylor 6'1 so there is nothing wrong with your assessment that he is only 1 inch taller) and of course longer reach, pavlik is indeed bigger. also pavlik doesn't seem to work as much on sheer bulk/muscle like taylor does. if taylor laid off the weights a touch, he would make 160 even easier. pavlik is basically all "bony" and long. similar to how haye has problems making cruiserweight. he is another fighter who could do with less weight lifting to make getting down to the weight limit easier. pavilk will benefit from the added weight WAY more than taylor. no doubt about it.
Pavlik is 1/2 inch taller . . . that's all there is in the size difference . . . body composition is different of course with Taylor having a tighter upper body . . . the rest are bullshits.
Pavlik's build is natural, Taylor's is built up. If Pavlik was as buff as Taylor, he could fight as a LHW.
Taylor always looked a smaller middleweight compared to alot of the guys out there, I can not see why he's moving up weights.
Jermain is in tip top shape and muscular, broad-shouldered, thick trunk, and massive, musculated arms as ever. I do believe that Kelly has an advantage because that long-lean-muscled body combined with his shoulders standing noticeably higher than Taylor's should make him get off with long, straight, leading shots again, unless Jermain muscles up and slugs it out in a distance wherein Pavlik is more innefective... I sincerely hope that this doesn't come to be the 2nd coming of Youngstown's muscle memory because that would also mean yet another Germaine failure .
No Taylor does, both longer reach and the new 'arm length' given by hbo. Taylor is a bigger, stronger man, Pavlik is a little taller.
I think Pavlik is just genetically stronger. It allows him to produce relentless consistency round after round. Taylor's body is designed for explosive bursts but it seems his lactic acid build up with his constitution would be greater than Pavlik. Taylor's athleticism and spring is what gave him the scorecard lead in their first fight so it has its advantages, if Taylor can use it effectively while hanging tough late on.
Pavlik's natural posture is hunch and sway back. There was a picture where he ws standing straight up and did look noticably taller, larger. Taylor chest down to waist is v-cut, Pav. chest to waist is stove pipe. Pav. may have hollow bones. All this does not mean Jack come fight time
it seems like Pavlik was the stronger of the two in the first fight...but maybe that was because he stalked Taylor the entire fight.
Pavlik is one of the few boxers that isn't a heavyweight and isn't really muscled. He's proof that this is boxing, not body building.
Its not that much noticeable in pictures or weigh in. When they are in the ring fighting, Pavlik looks much bigger. Bigger boned because you look at the waist, neck, size around the wrist and ankles and the size of Pavliks head. Jermain may be able to pack on more muscle due to genetics but Pavlik has really good leverage especially with the technique of how he throws his punches. He throws with very good technique.
