That's not my point. I'll give you an example. Hopkins' biggest wins were against Oscar, Tito, and Pavlik. Smaller men. Those victories are what cemented his legacy. How is Hopkins' victories over 2 blown up welterweights and 1 blown-up middleweight fighting 10 pounds over his weight considered greatness, but Floyd fighting smaller fighters getting so much critisism? Not that those weren't great victories and enough to place Hopkins up there with the best of all times, but despicable when Floyd does it. JMM is a future HOF'er, Hatton........maybe (his victory over Tszyu should get him in, eventually), and Pac is a shoe-in. I am saying that certain things that most fighters would get a pass for, Floyd is constantly critisized. I think it's a little unfair. Maybe it's because Floyd's a big-mouthed *****, I don't know.
Who the hell is putting PBF and Hopkins in the same breath? PBF is making a claim he is #1 fighter who ever lived, Hopkins isn't even claiming to be the #1 fighter of his era.
he is big mouthed *****. unfortunately in the lower weight class, weight disparity is much much more important compared to the higher weights. say, 160 above. but in the lower weights, ww and downwards, weight and size disparity is much much more significant in my opinion. second, hopkins does not go around town saying he is the best in the whole world and considering he is 44, a genetic freak, the fact that he was able to hang with the younger guys is a testament to his discipline. just like our old friend, spidey. much was given to pbf and hence, much is expected. the guy has the best skills, as i have always mentioned. why can't he fight either mosley, cotto, margo or clottey. these 4 while i am sure do not possess all the tools to ensure a win against pbf, because of size parity will not end up on the losing end of a 120-107 scorecard.
My point exactly. Maybe it's Floyd's mouth that causes fans' negative reactions. I agree that Floyd's an ******* and his mouth and his antics get on my nerves but he is still a brilliant fighter and gets too much critisism for doing the same thing as other fighters do and get praised for it.
You are aware that the only fighting small guys was a constant knock on Hopkins when he was middleweight champ right, and only really faded away after he lost to Taylor and went to Light Heavy?
The problem with floyd is this.... he announces a fight and then everyone goes 'huh?' and 'why?' and 'what about blah??' instead of 'yes, finally, a good fight!!' Thats why he is screwing up. His criticism is from not backing up what he says, even though he is as capable as anyone of doing it. NO ONE HAS EVER SAID FLOYD CAN'T FIGHT. We're just waiting to see it happen in a good contest, not a sparring session.
Floyd had a 5" reach advantage on Marquez. That's huge! Marquez had to lean in to try and slip a punch on Mayweather, and all Mayweather had to do was lean back a bit or jab. That was the biggest disadvantage of the fight.
