Jesus, this is going to be the worst kind of boxing spectacle. Skelton is going to be holding for 2:50 per round, fighting dirty and making this as poor a fight as possible. If Skelton stands off him, he'll be ****ing smashed to pieces. Just listening to Skelton's interview, he sees Chagaev of being some kind of god!
chageav can fight a bit. i think he might stop skelton. on a side issue, you know how bad he is normally. whats he going to be like with 12 months of rust?!?!
Yeah not paerticulaly looking forward to this at all. Never liked Skeltons style. I think Chagaev beats him comfortably. Still Id like to see the Brit win...
I would normally too but... I just can't like or appreciate anything Skelton does. He's such a negative fighter. It sends out the wrong signals! Skelton's interview doesn't fill me with much confidence. He doesn't speak like he belongs on the same bill as a world title fight, let alone participate in one. I have a strong suspicion that he is unambitious and will be happy to do 12 rounds with Chagaev.
Skelton needs to revert to the old rock em sock em style that dispatched Mirovic. He will not outbox Chagaev any day of the week. If he stands off and paws with his jab, Chagaev will stop him. I'd love to see Skelton win. As much as I'm not a fan I know who I'll be cheering for. I think it will be a great success story if Skelton can get the win away from home against the odds. The problem is Skelton has not looked that good in most of his recent performances. I think Skelton's only chance is to put a lot of pressure on Chagaev and somehow add a new educated and polished dimension to his attacks. Can I see this happening? No. Skelton gets stopped in this fight if you ask me - or he loses by some wide margin on the cards.
That's what is worrying me. I think he should be spewing ultra-confidence. That is what I would have expected from Skelton but he seems somwhat subdued. Perhaps because this fight came out of nowhere off the back of a dismal albeit victorious display - add to that the fact that Warren said he wouldn't be getting Skelton a title fight after his fight with Sprott. :deal
biggest problem for skelton in his fight with chagaev. the ref. i cannot see skelton being allowed in close with chagaev without the ref whoever it turns out to be , calling him and warning him not to do it. this will make skelton v chagaev more of a spectacle but will nuetralise skeltons assets and play into chagaev`s hands . i have watched nearly every german boxing bill televised over the last 20 years and this is the case in 99% of the fights.
I think ref's have been far too lenient with him in the past though. Sorry guys but I just cant get behind him. He's a terrible fighter & I cant stand the thought of him calling himself heavyweight champ & people drawing comparisons between him & Lennox Lewis.
I see what your saying but I dont think people are that naive that they would compare him with Lewis. He'll probably get paired with Bruno if anything, and that probably fair enough...Although I think Bruno was twice the bnoxer Skelton is...:hey
i can nearly guarantee you that the ref on saturday will jump on every misdamenour skelton does. and a clean skelton gets boxed to peices.
I'm not sure Skelton actually knows how/has the ability to fight cleanly if the ref really starts to get on his case. Would not be at all suprised to see him disqualified.
I hope for Skelton that the referee allows him to fight with pressure. If Skelton breaks the rules then I don't mind the officials jumping on him but otherwise I can't stand over active ref's with a bias / something to prove. :fire
its very easy to spot in a fight when a ref is biased and under orders from a promoter. just look at the ref and he will only be looking at the away fighter all the time.
