Iv been skipping for about 2 years now and i can do 10 mins in a row like its nothing now. When i started i thought i was going to die after 1 min. Yes its hard, yes its tricky but stick at it cos there nothing quite like being able to jump rope!!! I love it as you can tell psssst : exercise is meant to be hard:good
That's normal, it will get easier in time. Your condition will improve and you will get better at it so it will cost you less energy. I could do it for an hour straight, if it wouldn't bore me to death.
like rdj I could probably skip for an hour its just boredom , skipping works so many more muscles than running so its a great addition to any workout.
Started out as the world's worst skipper so I've been where you are now - or probably worse! Get your own rope and practice, practice, practice. I stop now due to tightness in calf muscles or other body fatigue, never from running out of gas - so practice will improve your gas tank too.
doubt its heart disease to be honest, its just a tough thing to do when starting out but you get better with time Like rdj said you'll be able to go all day at one point, we usually do 30mins as a warm up before training
We do 15 minutes, but I'm always way too early so I often do about half an hour. I mix in some shadowboxing and dynamic stretching as well.
I remember those days, we did 3 mins in boxing class and I was dying. Now I only have to stop due to my incredibly flat feet being sore which takes about 10-12 minutes to happen.
yeah i thought it was normal thing cause two gyms ive been do that. i suppose you dont need that much warming up but i think its the level that your at. This coaching course i did in liverpool said that depending on your level you will skip for longer i.e. open class fighters need at least 15-20 mins or wont be fully warm and could cause an injury. But i guess it all depends on your gym i guess When i trained with the pro's they start at 10am with 30 press ups then straight into skipping for 30 mins and then do a stretch after that.
See there you go heres the proof i thought i was going quite well doing 10 mins in a row, but everyone else seems to be doing 15 so thats it next time im doubling to 20!! See everyone at anystage always has some more they can give ! :good keep at it and soon those couple mins will be 30 mins like some of these freaks on here!
