Saw this advertised a few months back and forgot all about it until I checked just now. Last viewing is December 5th.
I watched it this morning very sad and hard to watch at times,especially looking back you can see the deterioration in ali's health before the fight.
Mentioned this in the TV thread when I noticed it the other day, great little doc, apparently there was a series of these for the ESPN 30th anniversary, the other Boxing related one was about Tyson and I think the Seldon bout, can remember the guy in the latest issue of Ring moaning about what a **** subject they picked for one of only 2 boxing docs out of the 30
Thought it was really interesting and just a pity there aren't more boxing documentaries on the tele. One thing I noticed and if anyone can expand it would be greatly appreciated as it is before my time: Why did the Nevada State Boxing Commission let the fight go ahead when Ali had showed some symptoms and struggled with things like hopping, etc. Bribe or purely the money at stake or both?
It was mostly the money, but also because it was ALI. no one was gonna tell him he couldn't fight, especially as it seemed like he got himself in good physical condition. on a side note, his wife was bangin back then.
