In the long term the BoxNation business model is so flawed.

Frank's stable is dwindling yet still incredibly inactive. They have missed out on 2/3 of the last big domestic fights they could have got (Haye & Hatton). Its unlikley that Price will stick around.

    That leaves them with International Boxing. Sauerland & Goldenboy have exlusive deals with BoxNation, but with them wanting to make a serious impact in the UK they will want to get there own TV deal, which would almost deffinatley include there non UK shows as part of the deal. The US fights that there not contracted to show are purchased super last minute, and its only a matter of time before;

    a) International Promoters realize BoxNations strategy and stop devaluing there product and
    b) Another broardcaster shows an interest in boxing/Skys budget is increased and they outbid BoxNation for shows.

Adam Smith said on the Ifilm interview that he sees Ringside as indepent boxing magazine show and in fairness they do talk about and hype fights which are shown on boxnation

You don't think that is a fair or currently poignant question?

I agree,I`m loving the international fights we are getting, but i doubt Boxnations longterm survival for all the points you have just made. They need the big name domestic fighters to keep the casual fans interested, losing Haye is a big blow to boxnation which nobody has really realized yet.

Funniest thing on Ringside was Carl Froch crediting Newtons 3rd law of motion to Bruce Lee.

I don't understand why Hobson didn't try and get the date changed to a week before or after.

Mcdonnell-Ceja followed by Alexander-Purdy would have been cool.

Doncaster had the potential to be in the play offs which would have ****ed things up.

It reminds me of when Issac Newton accepted the position of Lucasian Chair of Mathematics at Cambridge he said "It's like a finger pointing at the moon. Do not concentrate on the finger or you will miss all of the heavenly glory!"

    A wise man indeed.

The whole late bidding thing does leave them open to getting gazzumped rather easily. If BT Sport are vaguely interested in boxing it could split the rights yet further.

    Rob,
    a) Given that no one else in the UK is interested in giving those promotional firms a single penny for their product I'd say they are probably quite happy with whatever they are getting off Boxnation. Also Sky had the marketplace pretty much to themselves before BoxNation came along and didn't show much interest in the majority of the type of fights that Boxnation pick up.

Not strictly true. Sky were showing a US card every month at least in between Setanta & BoxNation.

Theres a point where, as a business you can't devalue your product. Continually doing last minute deals on the cheap sends out the message to every other broadcaster that you will always buckle at the last minute.

I used to speak to the guy at Premier Sports who would buy fights and he told me that's what happened to them. Lou DiBella also mentioned it in an interview with Boxing News.

Nah if it was on sky, they would show the knockdown about a dozen times in front of a bemused and pissed off Amir Khan, for some reason Sky love showing Khan get knocked down and or out in front him
