Have they done this knowing literally no will watch?

Just ‘good PR’ to be backing women’s sport and offering it for free is probably all this comes down to for Sky really.

Of course, we all know why Eddie is putting on shows like these, and in many ways one of the few highlights of Covid has been to slow down Taylor’s ascent towards becoming a PPV main event attraction.

I’d put a Lirva-bet on it happening next year if they can get a crowd in to Dublin.

They want to pop a rating I’d presume for a Taylor card.

It was never going to drive subscriptions. This may boost ad sales which is the only way they can get some revenue in.

Fair enough. Women's boxing needs developing so we have a better talent pool. Right now we have a small handful of decent fighters across all the weight classes.

Unfortunately the casuals mainly tune in to see someone getting knocked out and that hardly ever happens in women’s boxing.

plus most women are not really fans of the sport so I don’t see this sudden surge of people tuning in.

if Hearn could get more hot female boxers with big boobs jumping about I reckon he’d get more people watching though

    Women's boxing is a joke.
Men's isn't much better these days though.

Katie Taylor will never, legitimately, headline a PPV. If Campbell v Loma and Taylor v Prograis were relative failures, how on earth is Taylor v Serrano or Taylor v Shields going to sell. No one wanted to pay to see Usyk Chisora. He might love the idea that he's the go to man for the #metoo generation but the only way that Taylor will sell headlining a PPV show is if Joshua v Fury is the chief support.

Also, this isn't big news. Hearn's idea of a huge audience is breaking 100k

Boxers should be naked above the waist and in terms of equality these days, this should certainly apply to all sexes.

So what you're saying is the only protection they should have above the waist is their gumshields

It’s almost less about how many PPVs it sells (cos they’ll get paid a pittance compared to the typical puddings) and more the statement and positive PR it makes in the mainstream press about having a female fighter main event a PPV - ‘look how far we’ve come’ etc. Without Covid, it would’ve definitely happened this year in Dublin where they’d have guaranteed a good crowd.

With a typical ‘stacked’ undercard of all your PPV favourites like Conor Benn, Dave Allen, Joshua Buatsi, Lawrence Okolie etc. of course! ;)

Hearn obviously would love to do a Taylor PPV but clearly Sky aren’t sold on the idea- at a reduced rate of a tenner it could work but would need a very strong undercard.

In that case, Nicky Minaj v Christina Hendricks is my idea of a "stacked undercard".
Winner to face Kell Brook ..... Kelly Brook, I mean .
